I also get offended when people feel offended by what others say. They're trying to oppress the free speech and thoughts of others on the basis on their negative perception of what's been said.

I take offence at you taking offence at someone else taking offence because there is a perception of offensiveness being offended. :wacko:

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Odds of people with offensive views jumping on the subject and thriving (or just being trolls) is slim to none.

We made it 700+ replies without that happening (and succeeding), so I don't see it as a problem. And besides, if that does happen, that's what mods are for. They will nuke the trolls. It's their job. 

Well, one guy tried to use the argument that two men getting married is the exact same thing as a man and a dog getting married. Other than that, I have not been enraged at anyone's stupidity.

I normally try not to let things get to me too much. I've felt my fair share of hate so words don't normally offend me.

Couldn't agree more, everyone just needs to deal with it.

 

I find chavs (UK speak) offensive and would love to rid the world of them (do the world a great service) but I can't, I'm the better person (wow that sounds arrogant, didn't mean that) so I ignore and move on, I hope that makes sense.

that is true, however some people take it too far. They somehow can't find a way to express their opinions without being unnecessarily insulting.

In my opinion you don't have the right not to be offended but at the same time i don't think it's right to make deliberate attacks on a person that aren't somehow justified.

That's kinda what God represents. The absolute truth. The kind that's not changed by anything and is independent of all variables.

All different perspectives offer is a different view of that truth. And I simply disagree with you completely that "there is no absolute truth". 

I can easily view that last sentence as, and I quote, "condescending and ignorant..." 

 

I do not believe it "condecending and ignorant" to say there is no absolute truth, when I believe that it's not Gods intention to give us all the facts for our short stay here on earth.

True as you said that god represents THE truth, and  if He (with capital H) in all his might steps down from the heavens and tells me "this is my will, and so shall  it be done" then yes THAT is the absolute truth.

 

But until that day my friend, I stand sceptical to those who tell this is what "god wants you to do, think,believe etc."

 

What I meant was that niether you, nor me, nor any other person walking this earth can claim to know this abslute truth, or will of god, or whatever you want to call it. And to claim to do so is a dangerous business.
