My Parents Forcing Me Into Religion

Hey, I am not for or against any religion so please do not start arguing. So I am not religious at all, not Catholic, Christian, Jehova's Whitness. My parents, who are Mexican (my stereotype is that all Mexicans are very religious and Catholic) get upset that I am not religious nor believe in God or Jesus. My dad's brother, who is a pastor in Nevada has his own church group, or religion which is similar to Christianity. I visited him and stayed over on Friday and he has been trying to make me and my family all religious. He gave up his job and everything due to his believe that Jesus called him forward to embrace his teachings. My uncle has talked about religion a lot to my parents a lot, trying to convert them to his religion. My parents are now all about making us religious and go to church, which I honestly hate going to. I do not want to be part of any religion so my parents called me ignorant and grounded me. They are mad that I do not want to go to church and accept him into my life.

If your under 18, embrace it. Enjoy it. Religion can be a good thing to know, regardless if you like it or not.  If your 18+ its your choice, do whatever you please. I am not particularly religious, although I am glad my parents made me go to church and whatnot.

Tell them to grow up and let you believe in what you want to believe in. Them forcing you to believe in something is not the right way to go about it. If you don't want to believe in God, so be it; it's up to you whether or not you want to be religious, not them.

Sucks, but everyone has different views. I'd just go. My parents stopped making me to go church when I was about 16.

I don't have a problem with religion, and I believe in God, but I don't think he's vain enough to require worship every Sunday in a specific building.

If anything, being forced to go to church made me despise religion even more.

Yeah, I just find it to be unfair that what I enjoy gets taken away from me because I do not want to do something that I am not interested in

Pick something non-committal like the FSM. They don't have to know it's the Flying Spaghetti Monster until way off in the future, just be a convincing enough liar about spiritual stuff to get them off your back.

That does not seem like its something that God would want. But religion is not a bad thing. Forcing you to go to church is.

They don't have the right to force you to believe anything you don't want to believe. You should have told them that if you wanted to believe in Batman then that was your problem, and they shouldn't be telling you it's wrong because they don't. That reasoning is the exact same thing The Crusades happened. No one should be able to criticize your way of thinking, no one other than yourself, and having your parents force their way of thinking on you is a really good example of bad parenting. If you don't want to believe good, if you want believe to it's also good, cuz' in the end it was your choice not theirs.

They just call me ignorant and then they keep telling me that I have to be religious. It pisses my dad off and I really want to buy something at Frys and my dad is the only person who can take me so then I do not bother asking

I was supposed to go today but I ditched before I even got there. I do not mind getting grounded but I don't like that my parents won't take me places or buy me something
