Worst names in Tech Products

Didn't they use that name (Also PowerPC) because they used a PowerPC CPU?

No because the PowerBook name existed long before they actually had PowerPC processors. It just implied that it was a book that ran on electricity. And it was a good name. The first PowerBooks had the Motorola 68k series processors. Not PowerPC.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

MacBook Pro. Seriously. It was called the PowerBook before they went Intel and that was a much better name. Same goes for the Macbook. That used to be the iBook. And the Mac Pro used to be the Power Mac. All better than they are now.

Apple needed to diffrient the product lines as they were 2 different platforms as the 2 different microprocessor architecture had different instruction sets.

What Apple needed to do was make it easy for consumers to know what platform they were on so changing the names was logical.

Main Machine:  16 inch MacBook Pro (2021), Apple M1 Pro (10 CPU, 16 GPU Core), 512GB SDD, 16GB RAM

Gaming Machine:  Acer Nitro 5, Core i7 10750H, RTX 3060 (L) 6GB, 1TB SSD (Boot), 2TB SSD (Storage), 32GB DDR4 RAM

Other Tech: iPhone 15 Pro Max, Series 6 Apple Watch (LTE), AirPods Max, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PS3, Xbox 360

Network Gear:  TP Link Gigabit 24 Port Switch, TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh Wi-Fi, M1 MacMini File & Media Server with 8TB of RAID 1 Storage

It's gotta be Microsoft's console naming convention. You might have thought that the next iteration of the Xbox 360 would be Xbox 720 or similar, but no, it's the Xbox One. In my opinion that could cause some kind of confusion.

Are you pointing towards the fact that people can mistake it for the original Xbox? Yeah, that happens all the time.

Yes. It's not uncommon for an upcoming product to break its usual naming scheme. For instance, smartphones like HTC's flagship of 2012, the One X, was replaced by the new flagship of 2013, the HTC ONE.

Ah yeah that's right. Well I like their naming scheme

I always liked Apple anyways, but I don't own a mac anymore.

Because its one of the most poor brand name companies out there with motorized toys. By far in my book, the worst tech name ever.

Check out their site:

Edit: I'll elucidate "motorized toys" because I got PMs asking if I meant vibrators......

By motorized toys, I meant toy cars for little kids. LOL

What was the person thinking when he came up with that name

"Gamer" oriented products turns to have bad names.

Ex: G1 Killer, Fatal1ty x Killer, L337 GANK DRONE, K|NGP|N, Sieran (and the names of most bad "high performance" cases), etc.

Also plenty of overclocking products have shot names but I can't think of them.

Any brands to immediately scroll past when looking at electronics? I'm talking about phones, tablets, computers (store bought brands or PC parts), TV's, even stuff like dishwashers and washing machines. ANY BRANDS OF ANYTHING ELECTRONIC.

Personally, I've never had a Mad Catz or LG product that's never crapped out on me. I also avoid Toshiba laptops like the plague (ALL of the crapware).

Here's a list on the top of my head. They contain every component.

acer

lenovo (getting better now)

Biostar

ECS

Foxconn

Jetway

Apevia

Azza

Apex

Diablotek

Raidmax (never in my life I will trust them)

Rosewill (getting better, still quite crappy though)

Zalman (getting better)

LG microwaves are great, I have one that is 7 (almost 8) years old and still working. Just a little louder than before and occasionally heats up too much or too little.

I'll keep adding more.

Razer, Mad Catz and Acer. I have never had a good product from Acer.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

A Mad Catz product that hasn't broken? I call BS. Those things die on me so quick I feel possessed.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make sense. I've never had a Mad Catz product that lasted more than a week... Same goes for LG but maybe a year of use outta them.

I love your username...

And I actually only have store bought PC's by Lenovo. Their older stuff is actually better in my opinion. My old IdeaCentre had the sh*ttiest PSU ever though....

Whats with you people hating Razer? They might be pricey compared to other things but they're by no means a bad product or company. I've been using Razer products almost exclusively now for almost 5 years now and have never had problems with the hardware.

I am whatever I am.
