Most people dont load the shit outta chrome like that... You would need atleast three screens to see what tab is what at that point jesus christ

Waterloo University has a website layout that's so irritating to use that when I'm studying for exams, I literally just open up all the course notes in separate tabs and leave them open. 35 tabs open with pdfs eats up memory pretty well, when you also have another 20 with past exams and study references on them.

I have 3 monitors so it's easy to manage, though.

If you disable the page file, it's really hard to use that much RAM though. You'll get up to like 6 GB and your system will slow the hell down.

At my last job, the computer only had 4GB, and I had to run multiple copies of Visual studio at the same time. When I'd switch versions, the whole computer would just grind to a halt, pulling all the data from the hard drive. The worst part is that I figured out they could have upgraded the RAM if I had asked, the week before I was going to leave.

i was kind of cracking a joke :P

I know, you should try and hit that 64gb limit with chrome tabs though. It would be something to see

That would be Doujins. I'm part of a translation group 2 of them in fact, so it's not abnormal that I'm viewing raws.

The one thing that really sucks about chrome more than being a bigger resource hog than modded Minecraft are the tabs themselves. In Firefox, even when you have tons of tabs open, you can still make out what tab is which since Mozilla has a scrolling system that lets you keep the tabs large enough to tell them in apart. Chrome? Nope. It's squished gibberish when you have too many tabs open. Since Mozilla is losing its identity which each update, they'll probably adopt Chrome's sloppy tab method next for some ungodly reason.

Remember, the more physical ram your system has, the more Windows will devour it like a fat guy at an all you can eat buffet.

False.

Perhaps I was thinking of something else. At any rate, if you have more system ram, your system will take advantage of it in some way or another. It's been ages since I got a warning pop up about low memory since I moved from 8GB to 16GB over a year ago.

You should NEVER experience low memory usage message. If you do, it means that you have disable pagefile, which you should never do, unless you have a really specific reason that give you no choice to do it.

But yes, Windows will avoid using your HDD the best it can (Vista and up). It also has SuperFetch, which takes RAM, but isn't reserve space. It will free itself, if you need the RAM.

I actually don't remember what state Windows was in since that was a couple of reformats ago when I was still running the 8GB of G.Skill snipers I had since 2011. Keep in mind, I was using memory intensive programs and working with large files and not playing around with Chrome. :P

Dude your avatar, is that how the Scottish army camouflages there gear, with mango leaves and is that a motorbike helmet he has on?

Couple of things.  There is no such thing as the Scottish army and there aren't many mangoes in central europe. The foliage in the helmet helps to break up the head outline so it is not so obvious. That is not a motorbike helmet it is a bog standard, as supplied, MK6 ballistic nylon helmet ( defunct by now as you can't wear it and shoot properly wkilst lying down).  Lastly that he is me.

Think ghillie suit for the head.

Okay, so the thread starts with RAM, then goes onto browsers, anime, manga and finally camos and ghillie suits.

God, I love this forum :)
