MONITOR RECOMMENDATION!!!

Justbon321

Guys, I play most competitive games like fortnite, cod, siege, Apex, Valorant, and also cs go... I have a 3080 GPU and a 12700KF CPU... I was thinking about which one would be the best for myself to get.. a 1080p monitor thats 240 hz, or a 1440p 165 hz? please i need some advice and some monitor recommendations.

I'd go 1440p. The resolution bump is pretty big for me. I'd go a store to see them in person if possible though.

1440p? can you tell me the science behind why people say to get a 1440 rather than 1080 240 hz if i got a 3080 gpu?

more pixels= more accuracy cause the models and images have more detail
more Hz= more time to react ,in a way, to hit quick scopes cause you notice the target faster and see him for longer/more frames

Valorant cause its a riot game and it can play on a potato doesnt matter, same for fortnite its purely aesthetic, for apex itll matter if you care about the best graphic quality. The real tie breaker is cs go and cod. If you can get a 1440p at over or at 144hz youd be set for both. Also siege youd want more frames but it isnt nearly that hard to run especially for a 3080.

1440p is mostly cause the game looks much better. More detail in the game, and less visible pixels. Also better for non gaming computer use. I'd aruge the 1440p jump is much more noticable than 144hz vs 240hz.

Your gpu is more than enough for 1440(I'm running a slower gpu at 4k 120 with no real issues)

You have a 3080, might as well use it. At 1080p in competitive titles it'll go underutilized as your FPS will likely be capped at whatever your CPU can chuck out. You and I have different gaming goals but I still can't ever suggest buying 1080p in 2024, its such a low resolution for modern computing.

$350 will get you the MSI G274QPX, 1440p IPS 240Hz.

Or the LG 27GR83Q-B, also 1440p IPS 240Hz.

So should i go for 240 1080p, or 1440p 165 hz.. i get 200 - 300 fps in the games i play

So is it advisable to go for a 1440p, 240 hz then? because i run low settings in my games

The two displays I linked are 1440p 240Hz. The BEST response time you can't afford but those are two within your budget. Input lag is a non-issue in any modern gaming display.

If its within budget go for it if you can get more frames in 1440p monitors go for it.  but if you now hit 200-300fps in 1440p youll drop so 1440p 144hz to 165 should be ideal
