And people say Chrome uses less resources... The stable version of Firefox can't even use more than slightly over 2GB, Chrome manages to use all that for just a single tab.

RAM usage is relative to the user's needs. For some people 8GB is quiet sufficient for others 16GB is sufficient and then there are those who just needs more.

I have never understood the need to have a hundred chrome tabs open at one time. I just close them when I am done and reopen them when needed. I guess I am old school... Or just old... :(

I have done it with FF, crashed pretty quick though.

I don't think 400 chrome tabs would be enough, I have passed 150 and still not hit my limit.

You do mostly need only 8gb of ram, also, you don't need that many fucking tabs open in chrome unless you're hosting the WAN show or the tek.

I've got 16 gigs, but my ram usage is usually well under 8 gigs. 8 gigs seems fine even for users with many tabs open, provided they don't use the mem hog that is google chrome lol. I just opened well over 50 tabs in firefox and my memory usage was only ~4.5 gigs:
