@Thaldor Why connect it to the internet?

Camera & smart plug is enough to cancel it. No need to expose the entire printer to the internet.

Few tips for setting up PrusaSlicer:

Under "printer settings" click the icon and add the 3d-printer as physical printer. This allows you to directly upload g-code from within the slicer to the printer.

Don't forget to enable g-code thumbnails.

I thought about that but I looked and about 60€ more compared to just doing it completely free, "nah, I trust way shadier things with my stuff already". And it's pretty much either someone breaks into my LAN through my printer or through my smart home hub or through both, just a question who you trust more. Neither OctoEverywhere nor Nedis seem to have done fishy things so far, so the cheaper option it is.

Thanks for pointing out where I can put the G-code thumbnails, was kind of thinking where that comes from but didn't get to it (there's "few" other things more important). 😀

Well they're here and making a stack on my desk. I got a bonus 8th one too!

However I can't currently power them all. I don't have enough power cables.

So I purchased these along with some 18awg wire (collectively the ATVs draw 0.4 amps from the wall).

Going to create the most cursed power cable of all time. Probably going to make a rackmount shelf for them all too (that's why I got the C14 connector, for my PDU)

After having it nearly a month.  building the electronics in it.  tuning the radio to it.  a ton of teething problems regarding the motor mount moving (first big crash on it which broke the shell) Finally getting it running right and having a stupid crash (which broke the lower arm) waiting for some bits to come all the way from China.  I think it's finally ready for a thrashing...

The first parts of my mom’s new PC got here. Almost tempted to just use the stock cooler for now until I do eventually upgrade her to a K sku CPU (talking a couple years down the line). It’s a 12400F, like the only intel CPU that isn’t a nuclear reactor afaik.

But also, been a hot minute since I built with an ATX board, forgot how big they are.  My last few builds have all been Micro ATX or ITX

Sorry, I mean microphone.

Altec D90P vocal mic, using the same dynamic capsules as Altec's more famous "salt shaker" mics of the era. It'll need some work but I'm quite excited to restore it. Will be using it for singing, violin, narration, streaming on Twitch, you name it.

Don't tell me you paid anything for that crapper, you'll gonna need a lot of work to make it sound half-decent.

Why not just get a modern mic? Those things hold no redeeming value.

I've got modern mics and I wanted an old one. Worst comes to worst I swap the capsule if it sounds utterly horrendous. Paid a little under 50USD for it so not too much - I'm well aware I could get a decent newer mic for the price but I want to give this one a shot, simple as that.

I've never had a piece of Altec gear that didn't sound good, so I am hopeful. Evidently the capsules used in these sound quite nice, the "salt shaker" mics using the same capsules seem to come highly recommended.

It'll need a new cable since the old one was pulled out of the back, hence why I got it so cheap - decent mics of the 50s-60s go for well over $100+. I'll re-form the capacitors or replace them entirely if needed but I'd much rather keep the components original like I did with the crossover in my Voice of the Theatre A7. I just like the sound of old gear, that's all

The little under 50 bucks will probably pave through 100 bucks quickly when you start noticing how sucky of a 80's school broadcaster mic it realistically is m'man, not gonna lie down there...

I listen to old concerts, a lot... Joe Cocker stuffs, etc... old mics suck, even much better stuff than that. It won't have a decent tonal listenable range, at all.

Altec Lansing is fine, they used to be like... Cerwin Vega. A bigger name power amp maker, later disappear... you know what I mean since you seem to be an audiohead. Their later stuff used to be more.. worse, up until they disappeared to blue.

More real speakers belong to Dali, Indiana Line, etc...

Oh don't worry, it's not an 80s mic.

...It's early 60s. Dynamic range will thusly be even worse. According to datasheets on the capsules, they start to fall off around the 40hz and 20000hz mark, but I fully expect a 10+% deviation from those numbers due to age.

I do agree with you though - Didn't realize how dull some of my favorite older recordings sounded until I got a speaker good enough to hear the difference. In a way, the Voice of the Theatre A7 I restored ruined a few tracks for me because I realized it wasn't just my speakers that were the issue. Like when I saved up for a new DLP projector and its video was so clear that it made all my DVDs look like trash.

I'm stuck on a 27" 1440P 60hz IPS Dell with decent colors, it was an impulse buy and loads way better than what I had using but not very good for gaming because 60hz and meh pixel times. It's one of those obscure Dell monitors with almost no specs listed online but it was like $200 on sale probably 8 years ago sooo.... Anyway I'm stuck in the rut of waiting for tech to mature, come on Min LED I guess. Just waiting on an affordable 120hz Mini LED IPS 1440P 27" display, I'm sure that'll be coming along right about any day now.

But yes to used Dell monitors. We've got a pair of very so-so TN or VA 1680x1050 22" screens at work that were $50 each shipped with stands and you just can't beat that value. At home I've got a 24" IPS 1080P with stand that was about $80 shipped. Matte screens of course. They're nothing outstanding except the value.
