It's HL3 and when it gets confirmed we are going to have to know what we are going to do to celebrate. This is the thread were you pretend that HL3 was confirmed. AS MANY GIFS AS POSSIBLE!

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

HL3 confirmed!?

.... Meh... What's the point of getting overly excited, not like I can play it before it's released... Nothing to lose sleep over.

Even if Valve did announce it today, considering them, it wouldn't be coming out for at least another 3 to 5 years.

Considering Valve's reputation, this is what I expect to happen if HL3 ever really does come out (or HL2: Episode 3 for that matter):

  1. It's released without being announced. i.e. one day "Oh, and here's Half Life 3. You're welcome." Ads on Steam reveal it to us.
  2. People freak out. Play the game.
  3. Some disappointed. Some see it as everything they wanted. Many in between.
  4. It turns out to be made as if it were never hyped. Just like the other HL games were made. Their level of quality and such. i.e. Valve doesn't care if it's hyped or not. It's done when it's done and it is what it is. i.e. it's no Duke Nukem Forever because that game had a terrible development, whereas HL3 AFAWK is being done like the other HLs were done. Behind closed doors and by Valve.
  5. Some people claim it was entirely overhyped, others claim it was everything it promised to be. Regardless, everyone agrees it was a good game. 
  6. There is no 6.

I mean really. People who expect it to be DN: Forever if it ever comes out are ignoring what made that game a train wreck to begin with. Specifically, it's horrid development, and the fact that it doesn't translate well to current gen games. The things that made DN cool aren't all that great these days. It's a lot funnier/cooler in 8-bit than it is in 3D graphics imo. It doesn't help that DN was the "wow this game is crazy/silly" back in the day imo.

It was awesome because it was controversial to an extent. Blood, guns, demons, and boobs. Joy. Then they tried to go farther because we have all that in games today. That wasn't a good thing.

Whereas, HL has a story that isn't utter crap, fun gameplay that is still relatively unique to this day (regarding the type of weapons you can get), and is being made by the original developer, alone. 

It's not the same thing. Not by a long shot. SSDD, Same situation, different development.

To be honest, I felt that episode 2 was kinda shit. I hated that stupid mine part which was the main part of the game...
