Update: updated to lastest Driver from AMD and BAM it works...now does it smoke...

 

ADHD.ini CHECK Pain.exe not found at the moment

AMD iGPU on most laptops is too anemic to run successfully for F@H especially on higher end chips where the iGPU is basically restricted to desktop tasks. 

The actual CPU is another story, but most will only net 100-150K PPD for higher end chips. 

As for the add-on graphics, really depends what the configured TDP/TGP is. The 3050ti I have is a 75W TDP, and it cranks about 1.2M PPD. And for laptop graphics that's pretty efficient for a low spec chip.

Ryzen 7 4800H with a Radeon 5600M (Discrete)  was estimated at 1.25 days now at 3.45 Hrs after driver update...only 327k EST PPD which is crap it used to do 450-600k

I've had some nerve issues with my right arm the past week, periods of absolute agony from deep in my elbow to my hand.

 

Not sure if its something I've gone (it can be caused my using a computer) or just the weather tbh.

That's interesting as I haven't kept on eye on laptop GPUs since I got the GTX 1070 (as I haven't really needed a laptop since the pandemic) and that's half the power consumption for slightly better performance.  Really curious how a 75W 40x0 series will perform considering what the 4090 pushes compared to a 3080.  I mean a 115W Ada chip could be pretty nuts if a 4090 at 220W is anything to go by.

 

I didn't run the 1070 today as its so really annoying watching TV with it on.  The desktops I find the fan noise kinda relaxing as white noise when its quiet, though still a little annoying when watching TV, but nothing like the darn laptop.

it just has it's own internal power supply, just plug it into a dryer socket and you are good to go

Except in the UK were fine as every socket is a dryer socket.  Just don't try to run two laptops on the same circuit.

 

The 4090 Ti however might need an electric car charging outlet.

lol now thats funny (for reference to the picture i used that was a Dell XPS M2010...i ALMOST Bought one back in the day, but only reason i didnt back then was not Cost...was the enemic dual core CPU for that size of machine...a T2600 at time of MFG or i think it was upgradeable to a T7600 but that was after it went EOL

Over here its actually quite cold right now, especially at night. And since the heater i used to use for the garage for the really cold days or when i want to do something in it, melted its thermostat, my computer is basically the only heat source in there.

 

I really need to connect it to the heating system of the house, but that won`t happen this year. Instead i will replace the thermostat with a room-thermostat and a solid state relais that has no contacts that can be molten by the 3KW power consumtion of that heater.

Make sure it isn't doing biofilm, they've been kicking out horrible PPD, and are getting pushed heavily to Radeon cards recently.

yep it is..,Calculon jsut finished one too...i will take one for the team...but want to say that that professor or the FAH group them selves need to fix the points or some competitive peeps will cancel them. note i have asked in the Foldingforums to see if they have an answer...

Well: biofilms, compared to cancer, parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and influenza; is a much lower active priority, and is therefore reflected as such.

 

 

 

The scientific application to combating biofilms is actually quite considerable as biofilms generally are extremely difficult to combat. 

 

Biofilms form on teeth, on bones, and even with your skin. Where they are often most troublesome is in joint replacements, where they can cause infection.

 

Ever slid on a rock that looked damp but not dangerous? That's a biofilm. 

 

Currently the most effective way to eliminate biofilms is with an autoclave, as the combination of heat and pressure rupture the colonies of cell(s) (think of like the Replicators from Stargate, fairly harmless as individuals, but once together, are almost unstoppable single being) where it's a colony of many cells that have congealed into a few atom thick slime-like substance that share resources for their mutual benefit and can even create proteins and compounds to combat chemical attack.

 

 

 

Now if we are able to create our own biofilms, such as for lubrication of joints to replace cartilage, arthritis could become a thing of the past. A self lubricating joint that is extremely resistant to mechanical abrasion.

 

 

 

Tldr; biofilm research is very important scientifically, but not as important societally.

Yeah, they used the same board for the Pavilion Gaming which was offered with a 1650 and appropriate FP5 CPU. The heat pipe is about the same thickness of an m.2, and the fan is about twice as thick as the heat pipe.

The 10 series really was one of the best Nvidia ever released. I'm currently trying to find a few cheap 10 series cards on eBay for F@H.  But I've also got a 980 on the line for 50€.
