Taran's farewell video actually made me tear up

BlakSpectre

Huh?

People just sticking around long enough for their $5,000 Intel extreme tech upgrade and then saying "deuces," I guess? (j/k)

OK I've seen the vid now. @TaranLMG if you're still here much respect to you for your honesty about your early struggles. Best wishes for what's next and congrats on the nuptials.

Taran hasn't been on here since 2019. Doubt they will come back.

But like others, my first thought was also "he really got that upgrade and left, eh", but I guess Linus likely already knew Taran was going to leave soon and still gave it to him. Just like how he said before that even employees who weren't going to make the cut, were given gifts on their christmas party, even if they were to be laid off soon after.

Wow, was not excepting to see that today. Taran has been my favourite out of the LMG gang. Does this mean I have to change my profile pic now?

Side note: How many OG LMG employees (back in the house) are left? I can only think of Nick, Ed, and Brandon. Did Jon and Dennis join in the house? It's been so long I've forgotten.

I only started watching LMG stuff in late 2021 but as I find the server and organization stuff very interesting. In the 4th video about the new office which released a month before they moved to the office, Jon and Dennis are mentioned as new team members.

Great editor but the guy just irritates me!  Couldn't watch his 5k upgrade (or any of his other vids)

No idea what it is about him but just one of those things for me.

He has been here 7 years I think so not a huge surprise that he wants to go do something new.

Good luck to him, whoever replaces him has some real talent to fill.

That LMG is really doing well. Sorry for the click bait 😂😂😂. But it's true that people are really growing at LMG, sometimes they grow out of the roles that LMG can provide. Taran is a professional editor and is building his own business and channel (now over 200k subs).

Taran's been with LMG for almost a decade, people rarely stay with their first few jobs our of college for more than 2-3 years die to how advancement in the US works. Anyone who is an OG member but not on the board/senior leadership we may see depart in the coming years. But they are growing so damn fast that we only see like 1 big name leave maybe once every 12-24 months while we have literally a dozen new faces a year.

Going to miss Taran, his awkwardness was always interesting and he was a big reason why LMG was successful during the early years with his editing. Best of luck to his new endeavors!!!

Its the type of humour he uses. Yes I don't like it either, but I do understand how some people like that type of thing.

Either way he was more behind the scenes type of guy so it didn't really matter.

Hope he does well where ever he goes.

***

All threads about Taran leaving LMG have been merged to first of the bunch. We really don't need more than one.

Taran has been one of my favourite personalities in the company. He reminds me of childhood friend. Very intelligent with scent of humour.

But I'm also not someone who gets attached to persons in evolving industry. So all good on his new career path. Appreciate all he has given to channels.

LMG employee retention rate isn’t looking too good

Every time I look at the team page there are more people I've never heard of. Two new employees made their debuts on camera in like the last week. Long-tenured employees choosing to strike out on their own isn't a bad thing.

Collin even mentioned that on reddit as part of saying no he and Taraqn didn't get their Intel Extreme upgrades moved around to take into account them leaving LMG. the 3 years or so that Collin has worked at LMG is fairly common for how long someone goes before changing jobs and LMG/LTT is Linus and Yvonne's lives work, it's not Taran's and as such it shouldn't be expected too much that someone stays there forever.

No, it would only show turnover if the faces changed while the number of employees stayed the same. Instead the number keeps growing.
