Taran's farewell video actually made me tear up

A lot of new hires =/= turnover. High turnover would be what you see in a place like where I work. 500ish employees. In 3 years, we had almost 400 new hires. At the end of that, still had 500ish employees.

If at the end, we had closer to 900, that would show expansion, not turnover.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

How many people from LMG are still there from the last 5 years?

Great editor but the guy just irritates me!  Couldn't watch his 5k upgrade (or any of his other vids)

Taran always gave me a strong "Sheldon Cooper" vibe. And i always found his obsession with macros so weird. Anyway, best of luck with whatever he is doing now.

Yeah, because the fact Linus now rents 3/4 of an entire industrial complex and has 3 different studios plus a warehouse and design office on top of the main filming studio plus what, 5 or 6 different channels all with teams of people has absolutely no impact on the amount of staff he needs to keep the company running. /s

Side note: How many OG LMG employees (back in the house) are left? I can only think of Nick, Ed, and Brandon. Did Jon and Dennis join in the house? It's been so long I've forgotten.

Luke, Nick Light, Edzel & Brandon sounds right to me 🙂

Oh, accept Yvonne (though she wasn't an employee at first she was always around)

The amount of people leaving recently seem to be fairly high.

But from what it seems the reasons they leave are not bad. It's mostly just them pursuing their own projects.

Disclaimer: I haven't watched the video from Taran yet.

Two have left recently, you call that "fairly high" in company of over 30 employees? That's normal for any company.

E: The fact that we can count and name most of those who have left the company proves you wrong.

Jon and Dennis were there at the house too. Also Berkel, but he left quite a while ago. Taran is the first departure that I would call a long time OG employee.

THIS SIGNATURE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK

Well... even if (he didn't, but if) he "got the tech upgrade and bailed", he is one of the few that truly earned it.

He's been in the company for a long time, while there are employees that I've never seen before their tech upgrade videos.

Let him enjoy his hard earned upgrade.

Taran, even though you won't see this, all the best to you and congratulations on your engagement.

I really hope they talk about this on Wan Show tonight. I didn't expect them to have anyone leave the team (though, as the team grows, guess it was inevitable).

People have left before.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I remember one guy had left CA and gone to the US (works remotely I think?). And there were I think 1 or 2 others, though I honestly do not remember who. And there was one death.

Most people i have read about leaving leave for good reasons. Most to another job that's more in line with their goals in life.  I have worked many jobs that i loved working at but weren't the best fit for what i wanted to do.  we will never know if anyone was fired because thats none of our business. and some people i have no idea why they all the sudden don't show up anymore ( janice, clarence) .  i personally wouldn't want to work their because my goals in life are different and i like to start work early, but it looks like if i did it would at least be a enjoyable job.

There have been some 10 people that either can be named (because they have appeared in a video) or mentioned in passing by Linus (some of the CW/HR staff). Plus those who have been on probation.

I won't go further on that topic. This thread shouldn't be about such discussion and debate on reasons. This should be to appreciate what Taran gave to LMG and us as viewers.

All I see is people half ragging on him, half feeling good for him. The man wanted to do something different, and he did. For the $5000 intel upgrade, he's definitely earned it.

And to the fool talking about turnover, you don't seem very educated in managing a business. Long time employees quitting has nothing to do with turnover, it's more for new hires that get in over their heads and are let go or choose to leave on their own.

I believe one of the things that was discussed on WAN show and during early episodes of Intel Extreme Tech Upgrade was that it would be a way to help show off employees who haven't been really in front of the camera but instead were either camera people, editors, or doing important work that isn't as related to video production such as the accountant or Sarah/Creator warehouse.
