I'm going to yank (really hard) my P4 out of its hidey hole (it'll be crying 😂) and say F it to Unraid...

Note: Open box isn't worth the savings to get - too far away lol, the 650W should be enough for the 1070 and hopefully the 640.

They also have a 1TB WD Red for $55 which I am going to pick up too, for $5 more I could get a 2TB dirty SMR drive but ewww SMR... A SSD with likely low>no reliability is about $15 less, so... I'll be loading Linux, but which one 🤔 FYI I'm not going to pull a Linus...

So it is it normal for the pci-slot to always be 0 on each card, but the pci-bus is different numbers? Trying to see if this might be the root cause for my random rebooting.

I have been folding 24/7 since the first of Nov it says 926K but this isn't the case, I'm getting about 300K which has been this way since the end of June.  If you need any other screen shots give me a shout.

Time for my 2 cents, too. I notice you have a Cause Preference set. I'm wondering if maybe that's causing it to wait for long periods at a time between WUs, waiting for a COVID WU to become available? Have you tried changing that to Any to see if it makes a difference?

How would I go about folding in Linux? I haven't used Linux since I was a child and even then it was a limited experience.

I haven't hit the est PPD for months now.

Something's up with your internet connection, and I don't think switching to Linux would make a difference here.

900k for a 1660Ti isn't bad(although your overclock is way too high, I'm pretty sure your card isn't Folding-stable at 2055Mhz and that could be manifesting as errors and rollbacks in the WU), but you're only getting 300kish - which means your WUs are probably not uploading properly after your system finishes them. Trace the error log after a work unit is completed and see how long it takes to finish uploading vs when you start. For comparison, my 1660Ti mobile @ 1365/1560Mhz can do 800/900k easy, so just turn that OC off for a while until you get to the root of this issue.

Also, check again and make sure you've entered the correct passkey? Enter it again from your mail just to be sure.

Keep on mind he said it's a mobile chip, so you can't compare it to a full 1660 Ti. For a desktop 1660 Ti 900k is indeed very low, but doesn't seem that bad for a mobile chip. I run a 1660 Super that averages at 1.1M ppd but that's because it's a full desktop card. A mobile chip has way less power and thermal headroom

One of my 2060's is only getting 2 PCIe lanes, which I suspect to be a bent riser card from 1 year of heat.

I'm in a shed with active ventilation, so temps are stable at this.

I would also note that, my 2060's for what ever reason, are both underperforming. As mentioned above, I suspect that the riser cards are bent from heat, further information on GPU-z shows high PCIe bandwidth utilization.

Previously, my system was capable of 12 - 13M PPD. It's aging, for sure. Will be seeing the points for today, will be interesting.

I would say you're more like Canada with Quebec with countries in a country.

Also can't your last part be true when talking about states and provinces etc in any country? I know UK is unique in the way that it can easily confuse people unlike other places and I keep forgetting you guys took a bite out of Ireland like the Apple logo, maybe that's where Rob Janoff got his idea from.

In 2005, we had top consumer-spec folding machines doing 500PPD. (I was folding back then  - Athlon 64 3200+ producing in the low hundreds PPD in 2005/6 - can't remember the username I used to fold under then though 😕)

In 2010, people were pulling 50k PPD.

In 2015, 500k PPD was fairly common(1070s and above released in 2016 could do that).

In 2021, >5 million PPD has become possible with just one card (A single 3080Ti can do 7.5 mill PPD if I'm not mistaken). Wonder if we'll still be around, still folding when 50 million PPD becomes possible from a single rig. Then 100 million. And so on.

Men may fold, and men may go. But the project folds on forever. 😄

I remember when you could technically mine Dogecoin on computers and be profitable 🤣 I'm confident I either lost the wallet for that or gave up on it. I do remember those early days of folding too, don't recall my username either, I don't think the points algorithms have changed but our hardware has become that good.

AMD GPU is really not the best for folding, sadly for me.

RX 5700 XT, 1,2 million per day if I did run it all the time.

I only fold at day time tho, when I am home. Electricity is expensive right now so dont want to it all the time.

Tho technically, unless I open windows because heat, and that I definitely do not in day time this time of the year, I think the electricity my PC uses would just make the normal heating use the same amount less?

Also, I have noticed, its not that many in the event this year it seems like.

It seems like the latest drivers don't like folding. There's a post in this thread about that
