Why do people care how their system looks like internally?

PatriotDBoss

As the title says, why does it matter? Seriously what are you doing with your pc? You probably dont stare at it...

Just my thoughts..

Because it looks nice? Sometimes i look through my case window and i see that my graphics cards are still not on fire. And that makes me happy <_<

Also...windowed sidepanels. It defeats the purpose of them then.

I used to make display systems for LAN and other tech events, and I guess old habits die hard.

And good cable management does affect the airflow, so keeping it tighty helps.

If you get a case with a window, it looks way, way better if everything's matching and tidy.

As others have mentioned there's also airflow.

It's like cars though, some people don't care what they drive, some people have to have a sexy ride. Each to their own.

I could understand airflow, but other than that? nah, and why do people spend more on a graphics card that looks good but performs the same?

Well, whatever floats your boat

Why does anyone care about what their PC sounds like?

Why does anyone care about the performance?

For me, the three go hand in hand. I want a nice looking, quiet, powerful PC. Must be my OCD.

The same could be said about most things. For example, If you have the money you would look at furniture that looks nice first and then you look for functionality and comfort. It's the same for PC's. Eliminate the ones that look like shit and then decide which ones perform the best.

Why do some people care about making an engine look nice in a car? You can't see it while driving. Why do some want a "nice" desk when a cheap one works just the same?

I could go on and on. The point is it's a preference and as long as people are alive there will be things others do that you don't get.

Like many things in life, this is more of a personal preference thing. For people with windowed cases (depending on where their PC is positioned), they may be taking a glance over at their internals every once in a while. On the extreme scale, people who get into modding and the display side of things obviously put in the time to make it look nice because they can, and there is a psychological effect that comes with being pleased with one's own work.

In layman's terms, asking the above question of why people care about internal aesthetics is very similar (to some degree) to why people choose this spoke-design over another (reference to automotive wheel / rim combinations). It's just that; aesthetics. Looking at something nice just makes you feel... happy.

Computers are like girls. It's whats in the inside that matters. Good cable management means good airflow, plus it looks nice. I don't know about you, but I like my girls like I like my cases. Just as beautiful on the inside as the outside.

It's like getting a muscle car that looks like shit. It performs well, but it looks like shit.

When I had a very low performing laptop, I thought aesthetics would never matter to me. It started to when I figured out how nice a PC can actually look. Why not have something that performs as well as it looks? Plus, I used to be a Photoshop nut. Everything had to look well and clean to me. Even my desktop has 4 icons on it.

Aesthetics are above sound level for me, however. I never play without a headset on or music playing, so acoustically, the PC doesn't matter.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Yup.... thats basically it, some people actually stare at their system from time to time or take joy in showing it off!
