Ignoring the bombastic title.... The chip is interesting. It clearly needs next generation Atom to step it's game up and adding hyperthreading and maybe a second core would do wonders to turn it into a little powerhouse when needed.

Just keeping this here as a if you gave it say 95WH battery it should last for close to a weekend without power while doing office work on it

I would suggest looking a little more into how Rosseta2 works in comparison to MS solution. Unlike MS solution Rosseta2 is a x86-64 translation tool that lifts the x86 instructions, translates them and then writes back (to disk) a native arm executable. It is not emulating an x86 cpu. Also since apple dropped x86-32 support in 10.15 (well we know now why..) any x86-64 app that ran on 10.15 will run in apples Rosseta2, also apple have been able to make changes to how their ARM cpus handle memory and cache ordering so that the cpu can behave just the same as an intel cpus in this regard.  Apple have also (over the last few years) made some meaningful compiler/runtime changes to macOS that mean apps compiled with (somewhat newish) versions of xcode will have even lower overhead when emulated (apple has clearly been working on this for many years, after all this is not their first, or second cpu transition).

In so doing the overhead that Rosseta2 adds is minimal in comparison to MS solution, unlike apple MS are not able to do drastic things like modify the memory controller (and add custom cpu instructions to change its mode on a per-core level) so when they run x86 (32bit only) apps on windowsARM they need to run as a Just in time emulation (much like the emulators you might get for old consoles), as part of this it is not just replacing x86 instructions with ARM equivalent instructions but also (due to how ARM memory access rules with respect to ordering are different to x86) the system needs to add small pauses were it need to wait for after a right (doing nothing) to ensure the memory is set in the same way as it would on x86! this is why things like x86 photoshop run super super slow, but x86 apps written with the correct compiler flags so that they dont `assume` advanced x86 memory features can run at okish speeds. 
 
In short expect the entry level Apple Silicon macs (even when running benchmarks that have been translated with Rosetta2) to be a lot lot faster than this lakeFields CPU.

When I watched this video I was not interested in this laptop at all.

I guess I just don't fit the use profile for it.

I want power in my stuff and big hardware. Those things get me excited about new products.

 

The selling price seemed like a slap in the face to me.

When I first saw the thin little thing I was thinking $79.00 on sale at Walmart.

I was just guessing this of course that very low price was going to be the big selling point of the device.

I almost busted out laughing when he said the real price.

 

I don't like it.

What are the conditions for a video title to be changed? This went from "Intel's Last Hope" to "Can Lakefield Save Intel? - Samsung Galaxy Book S".

 

Do the people in the forum need to yell for it to happen?

The title change will have less to do with the forum outcrying and more to do with YT metrics under performing and trying to 'save' the video.

 

There's something to be said about having a borderline clickbait title that's still catchy and makes subscribers watch it. That's not that bad. Sometimes I see one that's like "mmmmm, LTT you're going a bit too far this time, but gosh dangit I want to see what this is." That's kinda their goal, I think. But other times with ones like this it's just...very meh. The CPU wars may have been a hot topic as AMD caught up 2-3 years ago, but these days... meh. Even Linus lamented in the WAN show this week in a letsbereal moment, Moore's law has been weak. AMD has "only finally just caught up" (or something to that effect) with Intel. All these CPU's are meh. Intel is meh. AMD is meh. If I were to upgrade my 9 year old CPU today it'd cost $900 or so just to get 50% more performance. Meh. Call me when it's 100%.

 

Clicky titles are fine, but when we've had monthly AMD v. Intel Dawn of Justice videos for 30 months - many of which have already carried variations of "AMD has F'd Intel in it's A" titles - similar repetitious milkshakes will probably only attract a minimal amount of boys to the yard.
