The only reason to buy a laptop with an intel processor is if you are getting a very high performance gaming laptop. And that’s only because there are no amd configurations with a gpu better than a 2060 super.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

How can you complain about the screen being 16:9 instead of a taller format like 16:10, when your own damn videos are in 16:8? WTF?

"This laptop will only have a little letterboxing with our content, buy something that will really waste a lot of screen real estate on black bars, for that extra cinematic feel!"

Just terrible.

It's just a matter of time that AMD takes over the market.

The other day, after begging my parents to buy me a laptop for 10 months, they finally bought me one!! I got a lenovo flex 5 14 inch with an AMD ryzen 5 4500U with AMD radeon graphics, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of SSD. It is a 2 in 1 laptop, for only 999.99 CDN. It's doing the BEST at anything, to be honest. The only downside that I have with this lenovo is that the battery SUCKS. I mean, it barely last 3 hours when I'm gaming, but it does do the job. Out of everything here, it is a very good laptop!!

I'm sad to see still no love for 17" laptops. Everyone's just doing 15" and smaller ones ☹️

Well most people don't buy a laptop based on their LTT video watching experience. From a productivity standpoint it does suck.

It would be nice to see a comparison between this laptop and the Lenovo Flex 5. For a lower price ($600 on Amazon currently), you're getting the same CPU with 16GB of RAM, USB C charging, a larger screen, and a pen included. Maybe @AlexTheGreatishcan arrange that for us :)

please i want to know .. haha

@AlexTheGreatish

That's my laptop 😊

The new HPEnvyX360, I got it since 1 month now with the Ryzen 7 4700U & 16G of RAM, and I can tell it's a Beast 🤯

And believe me when I say so, as I work as an Embedded Linux Engineer, and I build Linux Systems for living 😅 so I use all the power I have 24/7 🤷🏻‍♂️

This little Ultrabook really shines 🤩

Check those benchmark results:

https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/2744936

https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/compute/1076758

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/29759878

https://valid.x86.fr/e2a8zl

So it's faster than the fastest score for the Macbook Pro 13" with Intel i7 (double the price) :D

https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/compare/2903615?baseline=2744936

And of course it's much much faster than the XPS 13" with i7-1065g7

https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/compare/2903044?baseline=2744936

So yeah RIP Intel 🥳

I always preferred the look of the Envy line over the Spectre line. I absolutely hate the cut off corners of the Spectre laptops.

Seems like there has been a lot of improvement in the Envy models...finally, because they were always hot and felt like they would bend under any weight..

There are certainly reasons to consider Intel laptops. I'm typing on one right now, which will outperform ANY AMD laptop in pretty much every game, and will outperform the 4800H in cpu-intensive tasks as well as give the 4900H models a run for their money. My i7-10875H is very hot, but it is also very fast.

WKxcV7m.png

But more importantly, this is my laptop:

image.thumb.png.ded7cd04e2649e147917f58d92d59443.png

No Ryzen machine is even coming close to that.

The top score from a Ryzen equipped laptop is this:

image.thumb.png.9fd34bcffada801edfb79cd3c2e1f83b.png

My cpu score wins, my Graphics score wins by a landslide.

the Ryzen models scores 47.93 fps in graphics test 1, 42.02 in the second test, and 31.19 in the cpu test.

Meanwhile my intel laptop scores 61.51 fps, 53.76 fps, and 31.79 fps.

That 1.92% lead on the cpu test is not a reason to pick Intel over AMD, the 28.33% and 27.94% leads in the graphics results though are.

All the benchmark comparisons online showing the 4800H dominating the i7-10875H are also misleading, because a laptop with decent cooling and that provides enough wattage can get a lot of performance out of the i7. I see benchmarks of people getting 3500 Cinebench 20 on it frequently, mine consistently scores over 4,000. It also scores 1730 on Cinebench R15, and I've seen benchmarks showing much lower scores for it there as well (frequently around 1550).

I mean doesn’t time spy prefer single core performance? Care to throw in a benchmark? But yeah speaking that ryzen laptops don’t come with anything more than a 2060 your laptop will win in graphics.

What benchmark? I have a Cinebench 20 result at the top, Cinebench score of 4411 definitely isn't the result of single-core performance, but if you have some other benchmark you'd like to see results from I can run it and post the results. I do think there are a lot of bad laptops with the Intel 8-core i7 and i9's on the market, but the problem is that there are also laptops where they perform much better, and those ones all seem to be getting overlooked by review sites.

My laptop's a Sager P8378F-2, it was $1,919.03 including tax and shipping, so roughly the equivalent of a $1,800 laptop pe-tax, yet outperforms lots of $3,000+ laptops from ASUS, Acer, HP, Alienware, etc.

Uhh, you just posted results comparing ULV i7's to ULV Ryzen laptops. My laptop has a i7-10875H, it's a 8-core/16 thread CPU. I already posted above a screenshot of it scoring 4411 in Cinebench 20.

None of the images you posted contain the i7-10875H, or a Ryzen 4800H.

To make it clear, I am not trying to fanboy Intel. I did not buy this laptop because I thought i7-10875H was better than Ryzen's offerings. I consider it comparable to Ryzen's best offerings in overall power, but not in efficiency or thermals. It's hot, and power hungry. AMD's Ryzen cpus are better than it, even when they aren't necessarily faster.

My only beef with some benchmarks online was that there was a large variance in results of laptops using the i7-10875H, and it seemed to always be those which performed the worst that people were comparing to the Ryzen CPUs, so it appeared as if the Ryzens scored around 4300 in Cinebench 20, while the 10875H scored around 3500. And, that might be what some 10875H machines score, but it's not what they all score.

I bought this laptop for one reason, and one reason only. I wanted more GPU power than any AMD equipped model comes with. If there had been a 4800H+2070 Super model at a similar price I'd have picked it, without question.
