What's the best way to un-stick a stuck unit download? Tried exiting and restarting, wouldn't restart. That's closing both advanced configuration interface and client. Reboot, still stuck.

I had luck with removing the slot and re-adding it.

That did it, thanks. The stuck download is still in the list though, but it got a new one and is working on it now.

After 16 cores, the FAH client assigns the system "large WUs," which are just as it sounds, large WUs optimized for many cores. I don't know if you need to play with the client to get it to work, however, as I max out at 8 cores.

 

Edit: The "Big Advanced" cores are no more.

Still showing just Ready. I have rebooted, didn't make a difference. Log didn't show anything helpful.

Check the section about "big advanced" and "big work unit" should be specially designed for systems with 16+ cores.

Bigadv WUs havent been a thing for ahes, and all WUs in the v7 client are considered 'Big' WUs afaik

Hmm. On Linux I’ve had luck with just restarting the service. But sometimes a reboot is required. I don’t think I’ve seen one that I had the downloading persist across a reboot.

You have a slow download or it just hasn’t hung yet. In general I wait and if I haven’t seen any further progress indication after 5 minutes I restart again.

I've restarted the machine 3 times, tried pausing and starting the slot again, nothing. The log says it got it downloaded at up to 6% but the Status says 0%. Its been like this for almost 5 hours.

The flag “client-type” set to “advanced” or “beta” however may give you better results.

 

Beta -> Advanced -> Active are the three phase a new project typically goes through. It all depends on which types of projects are in “advanced” and “beta” compared to “active” currently.

Delete the slot then re add it.

Does this include gpu's for instance like the 2070 and 1080ti not getting big enough work units to be fully utilized?

But be warned, you are more likely to fail beta WUs and thus can actually get lower production

Advanced WUs are still in beta, just very late beta, they are less likely to fail but theres a reason they havent been pushed to the standard branch yet

Is it just me, or are CPU WUs worth a lot more than they used to be a while ago? My 3900x running 22 threads has been getting ~300k PPD pretty consistently, which is getting somewhat close to my 1060’s PPD (500k).
