A New HERO Arrives! - Logitech G502 Lightspeed

Sources: Logitech Blog | Engadget | Logitech G

Remember the legendary Logitech G502 with the old PWM sensor?

Logitech have just unveiled the new Logitech G502 HERO Lightspeed, a new rendition of their famous G502 mouse, now featuring the HERO sensor and now fully wireless.

Quote

First launched in 2014, the iconic Logitech G502 is one of Logitech’s best-selling gaming mice. Over the years, we’ve updated it with our latest technologies, and the question we continue to hear from Logitech G502 fans is, “when will you make it wireless?”

That’s why we’re excited to announce the Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse. We’ve kept everything fans love about our award-winning Logitech G502 and re-engineered it with the most advanced Logitech G technologies available – including the High Efficiency Rated Optical (HERO) 16K sensor, POWERPLAY and, most importantly, LIGHTSPEED wireless – all in an innovative, thin-wall design.

Having owned a Logitech G502, it's great to see the new approach Logitech are taking with their gaming range mice, now sporting their HERO sensor and Lightspeed technology.

The mouse now uses Logitech Powerplay which is Logitech's take on a wireless mouse aided by a wireless mousemat.

Quote

POWERPLAY compatibility means the Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED provides endless gameplay with a mouse that’s continually charged as you play.

The mouse according to the Logitech G website and Amazon UK, is going to cost £129.99 where I live.

Quote

The G502 Lightspeed costs $150 and it should ship sometime this month.

I can't see myself getting this mouse as I already have a PWM G502 and a G305 Lightspeed so I have no need for more mice. But the G502 HERO Lightspeed neatly blends together the buttons and build of the G502 and the newest HERO and Lightspeed technology for a well-refined wireless mouse.

Additionally, I haven't ever used PowerPlay, but I would fully be up for it if I were to buy the G502 HERO Lightspeed.

Well shit, here i was all exited and stuff about a potentially heavier G502 and then the price is $150. Il keep my slightly too light one thankyouverymuch

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

wait 150$ with or without the Qi charging mousepad

BC AFAIK, the Corsair Dark Core SE (90$) + MM1000 (60$ IIRC) are wireless charging aswell.

Hopefully the dark core gets the new Pixart sensor.

The logitech G powermat is 100 IIRC.

You and I are complete opposite. I found the G502 to be too heavy even without any weights in it.

According to the Logitech G online store, it doesn't include the PowerPlay mat.

My previous mouse was mostly a slab of steel, would have bought another one but it didnt have the infini scroll and wouldnt have lasted this long. I like a heavy mouse yet i play fast shooters :P

Oi, where's the G402 lightspeed? Hate the scrollwheel on the G502 ?

Surprised I've not thrown my MX anywhere 2 out of the window yet as the scrollwheel is just horrible...gives a loose impression when you use it to scroll.

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

so its 250$ total vs

140$...

and the Qi works with some phones.

Even though the G502 might be better, not 110$ better imo.

Don't knock it 'til you try it, the G502 with the old PWM sensor was accurate as hell. Played a couple hundred hours with it on CSGO and never skipped a beat. Now think about that but now with the new HERO sensor, and lightspeed technology so you have no wires attached. It doesn't get any better than that.

I do partially agree, the price is quite high but hopefully we can see that drop. The G502 HERO wired on the Logitech G online store is £79.99 at the moment.

I don't think my G403 with 3366 never, and I mean ever skipped a beat in any game that I played.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

My 20$ Corsair Harpoon is great, never had an issue, works great in CS

My M65 has very little diffrence, just more comfortable, and more buttons.

Not a fan of logitech software, but thats just me.

Corsair has their new wireless technology (slipstream), and their new LEDs (Capellix) so hopefully longer battery life.

Logitech is already one step ahead there. Battery life is what the HERO sensor is literally made for. HERO stands for High Efficiency Rated Optical and it lives up to its name. My Logitech G305 Lightspeed has a HERO sensor and it's lasted on a single AA battery since I got the thing, and that's on 1000Hz polling rate.

Can't exactly tell if the G502 Lightspeed can pull up the same numbers as it uses PowerPlay which charges the mouse as it's on the pad anyway, but I don't know an awful lot about PowerPlay.

all my AA battery mice last forever, but are very heavy.

 until we know the true battery life of the G502, we can't make assumptions

I bet they haven't addressed the metal scroll wheel that just begins to rot over time for some reason and looks like it is corroded with salt crystals on it. It's just weird. The mouse is great, but this really bothers me.

Ergonomically, I just can't see liking the 603 as much as the 502. That's the sole reason I've been waiting for a wireless g502. Although I still won't be upgrading until it comes down in price. I just don't use my mouse at home enough to warrant spending the money.

G603 fits my grip perfectly and ACTUALLY WORKS RELIABLY unlike the Razer Atheris Asshatis.  I've been very happy with it. :)
