What's more important, the Keyboard or the Mouse?

Hello everyone, I am pretty new to pc and was wondering what is more important or if both are pretty much equal.  Right now these are the parts I was looking at, with my focus being on a really good mouse and a average keyboard.  Let me know what you guys think.

Mouse for gaming. Mouse is the primary interface with the PC, so get one with a good sensor. Logitech G502 I would strongly recommend.

Honestly all of Logitechs gaming oriented mice are pretty stellar right now. The one he linked as an example is perfectly fine if he likes the shape. my friend has the final mouse ultralight, He likes it, but personally I like the wireless on the logitech mice.

 

I'd say mouse is more important, other than switch type keyboards aren't really performance oriented.

I'd argue the keyboard is probably more important, because some games may make you want to press certain combinations of keys and the limitations of ghosting or rollovers on cheaper keyboards will screw you over.

 

The shortcomings of a mouse, as long as it's not utter crap, can be made up in software to some degree.

Even its little brother the G402 is perfectly capable at a lower price-point.

all depend on what you are doing with your pc, 

imo go and try out the feelings you like, any mouse/ keyboards do the job.

you may be fine with oem / office keyboards /etc.

 

in general, keyboards have longer life span than mouse, I'd prefer getting a better keyboard.

also for mouse, getting 2 buttons on the side really comes in handy sometimes.

Personally I think the keyboard is more important for my use, I could do what I do with any sort of mouse, but the keyboard has to type well or else the enjoyment of using the device is a lot less for me.

As in, I use a mouse at 1600DPI and I feel like I am not missing out on anything, plus before that mouse I used a 15 year old one which I only replaced because the scrollwheel was acting up..

 

The keyboard however I am much more picky about, since if it doesn't type well, it feels really off. This is why I hate programming on my laptop keyboard, it's just not as good as a mechanical board.

Both are very important, but that doesn't mean you need to spend a lot of money on either one.  Comfort is what I value the most, so try them out in person.  A $80 mouse isn't better than a $20 mouse if the $20 feels more comfortable.

I don't think ghosting or rollover has been an issue since Vista launched. I'm using an old $10 Logitech keyboard and there's no issues.

Well it does depend on what the game wants you to do. My standard was basically "can I still play Beatmania on this keyboard?" (which at higher level of play can require 5+ simultaneous presses) That answer was "no" as of a few years ago.

If I only had the means to spend a good deal of money in one of the two I'd go with the Mice first...

 

none of the alternatives you listed on OP interests me though.

Most keyboards I've tried, even cheapo ones have 10-key. That would be an utter crap keyboard.

Which I'm sure most system builders happily ship their keyboards with, because I just tried it on this Dell keyboard mashing my hand between 4-9, r-o, and f-l, and I get like maybe one or two characters out of it.

In terms of mice? Logitech's wireless gaming mouses are improving to the point where there is minimal to no lag when gaming

Cheap keyboards use robber domes over a sensing membrane. Due to the nature of the sensing membrane, you can max press two keys at the same time, depending on the combination of keys. With certain combinations, you can press more than two keys at the same time, with others, you can't. The combinations will vary from one keyboard to another, so feel free to explore which ones work and which ones don't.

To be perfectly honest, I really don't notice any lag even with my older G602, so I'd imagine Lightspeed mice are even better.

personally i like wireless mice, so if the wireless is good, meaning no hanging, stuttering and bettery isnt immidiatly dead then most of then are fine to me. that being said i do love my logitech mx master though.

 

for keyboards i do like the taller keys better then the super flat ones and love being able to turn off the backlight on all the keys that are not mapped in the game in playing at the moment.

 

for both i find it important that hand size is considered. too narrow keyboards or too small mice are a pain on my bear claws.

 

id say both are about equally inporntant

my man!, for a mouse what you need is the logitech g402..  wired.  

 the only downside of it is that the mouse clicky is sorta noisy.    wireless mice arent any good for esports imo.. 

 

the shape of the mouse is whats most important..  you gotta hold a bunch of different mice in your hand an decide on which one is the most ergonomic.  I dont know if you live in the US but we have retail locations like bestbuy and walmart.  they typically have an assortment of mice you can hold so you can try before you buy.. ordering online for a mouse always brings a bit of uncertainty.

 

but, this is the latest mouse I bought.  im trying this one out on a whim.   I have no idea whether it will work out or not..  the logitech mice have always been good to me though.  they're also backed up with really good software.

the fact that is only cost $20 makes me feel ok about taking the risk on that one. 

 

 

 

as for the keyboard I think its less important but it you can get MX cherry switches it cant hurt.  wireless stuff just adds latency to your inputs..  I bet if you look at any of the popular streamers on twitch or well known esports players.. I assume they're all using wired gear through the good old USB 2.0 ports.. somebody correct me if im wrong.

Mouse always especially a good one that will serve for years, keyboard is no biggie for most of the tasks on PC

The mouse is ultimately more important, however you should spend more effort picking the right keyboard. This is because most mice are good enough, picking one at random will probably be fine. As were there are a lot of crappy keyboards out there.
