I Just Found 200 Trillion Dollars

I thought that I lost it, but I just found two remaining 100 Trillion Dollar Zimbabwe bills I purchased a decade ago.  Apparently they're worth more than I paid for them back then.  So that's nice.

Cheaper to use them as toilet paper than to buy toilet paper with them. Reminds me of Reichsmark in the late 1920s. Governments can literally pay off all their debts by printing money that are worth less than toilet papers.

The bills that were printed back in 2008 were recalled in 2016 so they have no value as currency, but people enjoy the novelty.  I enjoyed the novelty when I bought them, but they cost a good bit more now and I'd forgotten about 'em for so long I figured I'd just sell 'em.

AH, then that explains it. I travel a lot so it was confessing me.  I have a large collection of money from different countries, not worth a lot but neat to look at.

I had a small collection, but just sold it.  Lol.  The bills go for up to $90 (that I've seen) if they're certified and graded.  Mine were in perfect condition, but not certified or graded.

That is really cool. I have some from the DRC, Sudan, and Ivory Coast plus a lot more from Aisa and S. America. Even have a couple 1/2 pennies.  DId you get those in Zimbabwe?

No, I purchased them from eBay after seeing a WSJ article about the man that was selling them.  I think he got a pallet of them all uncirculated and was selling them after retiring from commodity trading.  I wanna say I paid like $5 bucks a bill back then.  

 

Sounds like you have a lot of OCONUS stories.
