Nvidia is dropping 3D vision

Hi, 

Sad news I read today, Nvidia stops 3D vision. They say the last drivers supporting it are 418.

Following the posting of the final driver from Release 418 in April 2019, GeForce Game Ready Drivers will no longer support NVIDIA 3D Vision. The NVIDIA support team will continue to address critical driver issues for 3D Vision in Release 418 through April, 2020. Those looking to utilize 3D Vision can remain on a Release 418 driver.

It is great on some games ! Also, I watch 3D movies with it.

like 3D, 3d vision is a thing that should be left behind. Want to watch 3d movies, go with the full effect and use a computer with hardware from the era when 3d was all the rage

3D vision was pretty nice and it worked with pretty many games.

good. about damn time. it was a gimmick to begin with and im sick of it being included in the standard installation. you cant get a monitor or glasses anymore for it and like 12 people on the planet maybe are still rocking theirs. and to me it wasnt that amazing of an experience when i tried it one a friends system years ago soo..

3D stuff were a gimmick

One day I will be able to play Monster Hunter Frontier in French/Italian/English on my PC, it's just a matter of time... 4 5 6 7 8 9 years later: It's finally coming!!!

Finally! It has been years since you could not get a compatible monitor for it. I don't think Nvidia was even selling the kit for a number of years.

I don't get why those drivers where not distributed separately.

3D was such a gimmick and just made me sick. They had to specifically design scenes in movies to make it pop out and it deterred from the plot too much. Magic eyes are much more fascinating

I think 3D only works when it adds depth to a movie or game, not to "stick our" but to make it feel like your looking into a world, and the screen is like a window into that world.

I got 3D vision first time it came around available. Worked wonders on some games. Other were not very helpful. Yes Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 looked great but the sights on the guns where 2D drawn and impossible to aim. Crysis 1 was impressive but you needed beefy graphic cards to run it at 120 fps so you could get 2 x 60. Borderlands is probably the only FPS i played that was delivering the same experience with and without glasses. Other than that RTS like Warcraft 3 and other non-fps worked great and had nice feeling to them.

 

The only issue i had with it is the lack of uniformity. Some game the 3d seemed to pop OUT the screen (toward you) and this increased the immersion but reduce FOV while others they were popping IN the screen which increase the FOV but less immersion. As far as i remember it was not possible to change that. Each game were different. I recall COD:MW2 was pop IN type and Battlefield (BC2 an 3) where pop OUT. I prefer 3D vision to VR. More powerful and better graphics possible. Slight enhancement that made games a little better.
