Cinebench R20 released

Ok, some PRELIMINARY results and analysis...

Battle of the 6 cores at my house. Each test was run at least 2 times, the first time observing actual core clocks, 2nd time without monitoring software which generally lead to a small increase in score.

With HT/SMT on, stock clock settings.

Ryzen 1600: 2536 (all core clock 3.4 GHz, dual channel 2933 ram, 124.3 points per core per GHz)

Ryzen 2600: 2912 (all core clock 3.8-ish GHz, dual channel 2666 ram, 127.7 points per core per GHz)

i7-8086k: 3390 (all core clock 4.2 GHz, dual channel 3000 ram, 134.5 points per core per GHz)

i7-7800X: 3144 (all core clock 4.0 GHz, quad channel 3000 ram, 131.0 points per core per GHz)

With HT/SMT off

Ryzen 1600: 1994 (97.7 points per core per GHz)

Ryzen 2600: 2276 (99.4 points per core per GHz)

i7-8086k: 2600 (103.2 points per core per GHz)

i7-7800X: 2369 (98.7 points per core per GHz)

Improvement from HT/SMT on vs off

Ryzen 1600: 27%

Ryzen 2600: 30%

i7-8086k: 33%

i7-7800X: 29%

Intel CPUs seem to do a bit better here, but I haven't tested for ram scaling at all yet, so that might be a factor where it wasn't really in R15. Speedup from HT/SMT is in ball park of 30%, so similar to R15. The 8086k seems to do a bit too well compared to the others.

With more time, I'd set systems to run at fixed clock so there is no ambiguity. Also I could try to use the same speed ram in all to help equalise that also.

Ran my 1600X stock with 3200 cl14

Only thing about this is... It probably just resets our understanding / expectations of cinebench scores?

How are scores comparing? How is the new scoring working, and what's changed on what's being done under the hood to warrant a new release? Is there an expected multiplier to predict R20 score, compared to R15?

But I guess this is so fresh that we'll need some time with it.

How does an X5675 score? I don't want to turn on windows update. :D

What the butt? I have 7 64bit SP1 4GB RAM and a CPU with SSE3. I want to see how abysmally slow my 4590S is!

First one was without temp monitoring, and the second one was with temp monitoring.

I'm curious, why are you not running quad channel on your 1950x? I figure that it would boost your score up by at least a couple hundred points.

8086k Winner BABY!!

bump it to 4.6 or 4.7 , every chips different but my 5820k was a beast, it could go up to 4.9.

Is easily portable without the store.

Complaining for the sake of it seems silly.

Enjoy the fact it exists at all.

Download, rip files out, store the backup as a zip/archive and have a portable version without the store needed to share it.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

No, sorry. The only way is that a signed permission is provided from Maxon to LMG for approval for distribution by the specific user on the forum.

But, here is a direct link to get it from the Store, if it is of any help in getting:

https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9PGZKJC81Q7J

(you can remote install it on all your PCs if you are away)

Ah well...
The following should re-install the store. This assumed you removed it at all user level and not just your account.

Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Which is User choice and not defaulted, but comes with pros and cons. Hence your post.

2495 for an i5-8600K at 4.5GHz.

I need a better cooler, the chip seems to be a damned fine OC'er, I have tested 5GHz and it is stable with reasonable voltage. I just can't cool it there. Ram is 3000MHz.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta

I got 2032 on my 4790k when run at stock clocks.

By the way, the bin thing talked about on the first page of this forum worked for me. Just make sure you have read and write privileges for the WindowsApps folder in Program files. If you have problems getting permissions the "fast method" explanation from this website worked for me:

https://www.maketecheasier.com/access-windowsapps-folder-windows-10/

CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.7 GHz

GPU: XFX GTS RX580 4GB

Bummer. R15 ran fine under Linux using WINE because you could 'just download it' and there weren't any Windows specific dependencies that WINE didn't cover, now I have to go all round-a-bout to get it and I'm boned if I only had Windows 7 since Maxon says Windows 7 but the Windows store says ONLY Windows 10 and refuses to install on my Windows 7 computer. Also the scaling is busted in R20, half of the render is off my screen (TV runs some weird size fonts because I'm sitting 6 feet away lol). I'll have to see if I can fix that.

I think Maxon forgot to update the specs on the page. Even on Mac, you can only get it from the OS store, and not independently get it and run it

I never defended it.

I said in regards to your previous tweet of "annoyance" that it isn't the default stance for everyone else.

Aka "Thats not the norm" for everyone else.

The sentiment seems pretty clear on this forum as shown below xD I just took it one step further and actually ripped that garbage out.

When I can literally download the R15 version from their website as a zip file it's kinda dumb that they're making people going through the MS Store to get R20.

Windows Store, a solution to a problem that didn't exist and very few were asking for. On a tablet, phone or other portable device with a customized UI/OS for that then sure, on a desktop no. I accept Steam because it actually makes my life easier, has next to no restrictions on it, and is better than buying physical copies of games requiring actual travel to a physical store.

If I had to drive to a physical store to get almost all the Windows software I want then hell yes give me the Windows Store, otherwise go away.

Edit:

Also it's a free App

Why must I login/give my password, it's a free app....... Free.........................................................................................................
