Apple went right into the Mac today starting the event with the MacBook Air.

 

First building the foundation of Mac what the Mac does for the creative oriented

Then bracing about their sales: Over half of Mac buyers are 1st time with over 100,000,000 active Macs and the Mac is #1 in customer satisfaction (macOS is why)

Tim Cook then went into a Recap of macOS Mojave’s new features

$1200 for dual cores and 128gb storage laptop? Yikes...

EDIT: Mac mini seems interesting and better price though. Also at least the Air has dual thunderbolt ports. Just 1200 for a thin and light with dual cores seems horrible.

It's running 617 graphics which is in the Y series of Intel CPUs. Basically it's garbage. The screen is retina so probably 2560 or whatever they use because it's 16:10

The new Magnetic Apple Pencil is what the iPad Pro needed tbh. I honestly don't see the Surface as a viable product anymore, not with Adobe bringing its programs over to the iPad and the iPad offering way better graphics performance and compute power. 

 

It just sucks that it doesn't run macOS

Oh yeah, the new iPad has USB-C.

 

Good: Works with all my USB-C stuff and possibly with whatever camera I get next that has a USB-C port.

 

Bad: Lightning stuff won't work without a dongle

The Air is the perfect college laptop, 13hour battery life, thin, light, great display, and now it comes with all the modern Mac features. It did what it needed to do.

 

Should the price be lower? Yes, does that stop Apple from selling Macs? No.

I actually quite like the new Mac Mini, and tbh I think they made the right decision not going with a dGPU, in that size they'd only get the equivalent of maybe a RX570 without overheating so I'd much rather use an eGPU.

Whilst I agree college laptops should be more affordable, you'd be surprised at how popular laptops that cost >$1000 are on some campus grounds.
