A $100 mouse you hold like THIS??

James

Buy MX Vertical:
On Amazon: http://geni.us/SF3P
On Newegg: http://geni.us/fepbF

Logitech (or Logi) has extended its MX series from the Master 2S, Anywhere 2S, and Ergo to now include a 4th member: the MX Vertical. It’s a 4000 dpi ergonomic vertical mouse that I guess you could use for gaming if you had to...

Why do some of the uploads use the premiere feature, while others are just normal?

The issue with clicks may be because having your hand in a vertical position means you're pushing sideways to click.

Unless you perfectly balance the force of your finger with the reaction force of your thumb, the mouse will slightly move either left or right when you try to click.

On a normal mouse the finger pressure is directed downwards, so it doesn't move the mouse when you click.

I've been using something similar for years now, the DXT Ergonomic Mouse 2. I found that it didn't have the "getting used to" problem that I'd had with most vertical mice. I prefer the pinch grip style of the DXT instead of the ones that take up your whole hand. This Logitec seems to be somewhere in the middle. I prefer to do my mousing using wrist movements instead of having to move my whole arm like most vertical mice seem to require. I noticed something similar to the DXT in the video for for $28 on Amazon.. I might look into that one. The DXT mouse only has right click, left click, wheel click, and wheel scroll. I miss having dedicated back and forward buttons.

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy

I'm kind of missing something here:

A) Is it any good in ergonomics (did you guys notice a positive angle here and can you recommend it for that)?

B) Does the shifting when clicking stuff go away? Or any other negatives about it, other than "it lacks programmable buttons and a horizontal scrolling feature", because not everybody cares about those

I swing by just to look at what silly face Linus is using in his video.

Lots of mouses have different hand orientations and Carpal Tunnel will be a major problem in the coming decades and centruries along with vision problems.

Worth mentioning: the MX Ergo now comes in a Plus or Pro variant (depending on market?) where it comes with a little platform that adds 10 degrees of tilt, totalling to 30 degrees of tilt. I use it all the time like this and it's great.

Usb type-c is still not mainstream enough... Maybe in 1-2 or more years (when $500 and lower phones should start getting them), but that's still a long ways away in tech terms...

Also Linus needs a new jacket...

I recognize it but idk from where, but it was recent /s

I got an Evoluent Vertical Mouse 4 at work, and quite honestly it seems to be much better than the Logitech MX Vertical.

I mean it's nowhere near as pretty and the plastic can feel cheap in some places, but the thumbrest looks much more comfortable, the front/back buttons seem better placed, and the comfort of a discreet middle button in a vertical mouse can not be over-exaggerated!

I have an MX Ergo Plus trackball that I've been using for maybe a year now. The added tilt compared to the older M570 makes a HUGE difference in ergonomics and long hours of use. I am pleased as well that Logitech pulled their head out of their asses and went back to the more durable microswitches which were a nightmare to deal with on the M570.

My one wish would be to bring back a WIRED VERSION - their single dongle approach is super convenient but I keep getting wildly sporadic interference issues on both the trackball and K800 keyboard that I use. That's a huge negative for wireless. Also, it's been well documented that their dongle will mess up a Logitech webcam on every reboot, requiring you to unplug and plug back in the webcam for it to show up as connected. Some say it's a USB 3.0 vs 2.0 compatibility issue but in 2018 that's just unacceptable.

It's going to take a lot more convincing for me to lay down some green for another Logitech mouse then ergonomic design. I do a lot of gaming and the lack of extra buttons is a no-go for me (not to mention my last logitech mouse lasted all of one month).

@LinusTech @nicklmg I liked this video, but I would love it if you took some of those cheaper options like havit and anker's offerings and compared them to this and gave an idea of the values

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

Looking at this mouse, I feel like my hand is going to slide down onto the desk a lot. Especially with the vertical 'grip lines'...I almost feel like a little shelf at the base would help keep the side of my hand sliding along the desk.

@James did you ever get this? Is the surface good enough to hold your hand in place? Although I openly admit it could be another of those personal things, as I have quite large hands.

over the years, I've owned several logitech mice, a few old random ones, a couple of MXanywhere's my current 560 and my personal favourite, an MX610. However I would never buy this since as Linus points out, this is a very right handed mouse and I am not.

Also, 7:49 "mertical"?

  • 5 months later...

I tried the Anker wireless vertical mouse and found that it left my pinky in an awkward spot where it had to be pushed out to the side. I wish the mouse was a little larger to accommodate the pinky. How does this one compare?
