Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

what is your guy's opinions on synthetic blend oil? (i'm gonna try to switch my dad from dino oil)

Semi synthetic? Its a gateway oil. Before you know it you've gone full synthetic like some damn hippie.

i salute this guy for actually driving his supercar, instead of having it stored in a garage all year. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a31251/daily-driver-lamborghini-murcielago/ i mean it's got slightly less miles than my protege but hey it's quite a lot for a quarter of a million dollar supercar.

My go-to has been mineral oil for all my car up until the camaro.

Always had a drum of texaco ursa super around until recently.

Ooh i saw that on top gear a while back. I'd be happy with just the Wiesmann and a tent to be honest. But the RV would be amazing

That's really cool. I wasn't expecting the motor and tranny to be capable of hitting high Milage, so it made sense once I saw the bit about the motor and tranny being rebuild.

being a high strung and high revving engine, i'd expect if he was going to drive it that often, he'd have to rebuild it sometime during ownership. and it sucks that his car ran into a tree and damaged the frame, but it does look quite good even after it was fixed.

I have no complaints about the synth blend. Usually just starting to turn color right around the time I change it.

The Texaco Ursa might've been a semi-synthetic now that i look at it again. Could've sworn it says mineral oil on the drum though. But i'm not driving seven hours to find out.

Real heavy duty stuff though. Designed for heavy equipment that spends 8 hours a day running at 2500rpm+

idk. i like a nice matte black finish on my wheels, or a gunmetal look. glossy stuff to me doesn't look that good.

it really depends on the exhaust system hooked up to the turbo. if it's nice and open, like straight pipes, then it shouldn't be too bad. if it's like most modern turbo cars, where they choke it up, then it should sound like ass.

Choppy air, all it is.

Oh, and never forget to give your wheels a seriously good scrubbing before you clean them.

Pay attention to traffic in front of you, but not the car directly in front of you. Become bumper buddies, you are compelled.

That's amazing. I should have an injector and a quart of spent oil in my exhaust just do hit a button and cloud out the guy behind me for this reason.

i'd probably be a lot easier (especially if you have gobs of power on hand) and just downshift to a lower gear and do a rolling burnout. it's much more fun that way and you get a desired effect.

The Deer Suicide Squad is out in force on Highway 49 tonight, doing their darndnest to enforce the speed limit via use of their own bodies instead of writing tickets. Fines if caught range from a minor dent to complete vehicular destruction. May cause random delays by hanging out in the middle of the road for extended periods of time.

Leaving that note aside, I am wondering why is it the Mazda seems to give a bit more of a kick in torque just north of 6K rpm. Was pretty sure it made peak at 4.5k rpm, and (supposedly) levels off. It feels like it gives one final shove before finally tapping out close to the limiter.

My eyes see the past…

My camera lens sees the present…
