Personal opinions on RGB....

Fessas

Surprised there is no independent forum, with sub-forums, on RGB.

Seeing as aesthetics are everything.

There's the modding sub forum for that, or the various other sub forums to discuss the parts those RGB lights are used on.

I can only imagine a RGB sub forum to have less than 5 threads, such as "LED strips from X manufacturer", "love it or hate it" or "show your builds with RGB"... and a few others like that... which again, can fit into the other sub forums that already exist.

Personally, I think that RGB lighting looks absolutely awesome, and I am happy that it is being integrated into computer hardware. However, I have noticed that some people are totally against it, this is strange to me considering it is usually possible to simply turn off the RGB lighting, or set it to a certain color. What do you guys think of the RGB craze? do you have any RGB lighting in your builds?

Some people like it, some don't. When done correctly it looks nice. Only RGB item I have is my Corsair Scimitar mouse.

Like it on keyboards, for the backlight. Hate it everywhere else.

I'm of the opinion that LEDs lights (RGB or not) have no place in a computer. It's just an eyesore and a distraction in your peripheral vision, especially blinking LEDs.

Hate them so much, I either ripped, masked or unplugged every LED lights in my computer.

Love it. Now, that doesn't mean that I love a rainbow lighting effect that pulses and flashes and has a wave deal going.

I like being able to choose my build color, without having to carefully select components. With this if I get RGB, it can match whatever I want it to. I can change WASD to different colors. I can change my mouse to light up different colors so I know what mode it's in.

I have no idea why people have such issues with RGB. Most people I see just bash it because it seems to be the 'in' thing to do.

Guess what. Don't like RGB? Get something that doesn't have it. There's loads of selection out there, and having yet another choice is not a bad thing.

There really aren't any consumer grade motherboards out there without RGB.

I would prefer RGB over having to source and research on good [INSERT COLOR] hardware. It can also be used as a mood ring: Blue for approach, green for STFU, and red for "computer is dead".

Now that is something that I can understand. Personally I don't find it much of a distraction, although I can see how some people do. Sometimes the lights from the RGB on my keyboard catch my attention. it doesn't bother me because I think they look awesome, but if I don't want to be distracted I can simply turn them off.

I do think that some of the implementations of RGB lighting are a bit silly. I am not one to actively purchase and setup RGB components in my system, but I am in favor of people having choice.

I have two pieces of lighting in general . One is the company logo on my GPU lit up in white, and an RGB implementation on my AIO cooler waterblock that just changes colour based on temperature. Neither of which I pay any attention .

I'm with you there dizmo! I like doing both of the aforementioned thing, picking different lighting effects for different builds. However, I've also found I like different wave/pulse effects that cycle through all of the possible color cycles. I just find both of the options beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, and just plain old nice to look at. I occasionally find myself just gazing at my computer, and alot of that reason is because of the lighting effects.

I think that is an opinion that a lot of people hold about their PC hardware. For some reason I feel as though I turn my PC build almost into an art project. Just something that I can tinker with, and mod to something that I enjoy to be around more. And since I'm around my computer a fair amount, I figure : Why not modify the object to something that I want it to be? I'll gain experience in different skills and have an item that typically evokes positive emotions.
