The European Court of Justice this week ruled that production of Jodi Boxes is now illegalmovies or any sort of media without the right holders' permission is ILLegal

 

NOTE: Just a small update. Streaming movies has always been illegal anyway. Streaming really is just as bad as downloading movies. Example with Kodi streams are downloaded into a temporary file. 

 

I see this more as a statement that attention will be brought to the matter of media streaming content that is illegal and that action will take place.l

 

Now owning Kodi itself is NOT illegal. Kodi's main purpose was to stream your own virtual library content.

If the content belongs to you it is perfectly legal. However, if you use a third party addonthat allows you

to view movies then that is copyright infringement 

 

If you know someone who streams movies or any sort of media for "free" please inform them about this

 

UPDATE I'd like to sincerely apologize for my false information. I myself was misinformed about this situation. This law is not against watching Kodi streams but to prevent Kodi add-on box production. I cannot apologize enough from my mistake. This post is going to be privated in the morning to save myself the embarrassment. I apologize for my mistake. I should have done more thorough research on this matter. Really sorry guys

so, lines advert( tunnel bear) main clients are from EU. EU will have a serious issue with net neutrality in the future, since everybody is a criminal.

I found out about this today when I was browsing for Kodi addons.

wait streaming my own library to other devices? The fuck? I own that shit. I don't buy CDs low I can listen to low quality shit through streaming services

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

In Canada the worst thing that can happen for classic piracy is being told by e-mail by your ISP that you're a bad person. I think I've had 4-5 notices.

If the content does belong to you it is perfectly legal. This ruling mostly refers to kodi third party addons that allow you to view other library with content that is considered copyright infringement

this is something the consumer needs to get their head around.

Only the copy right holder OWNS the content. What you have purchased is a right to enjoy the copyrighted works, but it comes with restrictions. Paying extra money to broadcast music has been around for ages.

I don't understand why they bothered. This was something that was illegal before anyways, but if they're passing this in order to gain some support for enforcement against copyright infringement, they are going to get nowhere because people are still going to do it anyways.

Nearly everyone doesn't know about this and I'm sure the few who know don't even care.

I say jiggly-bytes when I see "GB".

Last time the passed an anti-piracy bill in NZ it was because the actors working on the hobbit threatened to go on strike and in retaliation the producers threatened to move production offshore. The Prime Minister met with the studio execs and the result was the movie stayed in NZ but people in the film industry had a lot of their employment rights stripped away and we now have this stupid anti-piracy bill which was so poorly done its quite useless; I call it a pandering bill written on toilet paper to wipe the arses of corporate executives.

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I found out about this today when I was browsing for Kodi addons.

 

Now owning Kodi itself is NOT illegal. Kodi's main purpose was to stream your own virtual library content.

If the content belongs to you it is perfectly legal. However, if you use a third party addonthat allows you

to view movies then that is copyright infringement 

 

If you know someone who streams movies or any sort of media for "free" please inform them about this

Technically speaking it was always illegal. Copy right is protected under International law. Many of these streaming services use servers in countries who do give two fucks. Its not like its going to change. If media company's keep being pecker heads then people will continue piracy. There is no way in hell for the EU to enforce. They tried the 6 strike policy in the US and it didnt work. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Jurisdiction. They might not live in countries who are friendly to copy right laws. Its all about having an extradition treaty not every country has one.
