I don’t really have a problem with this. I am extremely lucky to have a privileged upbringing where I can have a nice computer, laptop, education and great vacations. I am studying very hard, and succeeding to give my future children the same opportunities that I have been given.

 

Never, ever be sorry that your parents can afford to buy you expensive things. However, it is the people who will waste them that should feel sorry that they have wasted the good opportunities for success. To much that has been given, much will be expected.

This is good though you realize the value of what you have and are able to do. I mostly see normally teens that are like "WOW YOU CAN'T GET ME THE NEW IPHONE?!?! I HATE YOU!"

Yes they would still be spoiled brats. My family always had alot of money growing up and could have easily spent a stupid amount of money on things that me and my siblings didn't need but they didn't because they knew it would make us spoiled. My parents could have gotten me a brand new car for my 16th birthday but they didn't. Instead they got me an old pick up truck that had one door that only opened up from the outside and I had to drive all my siblings around in it and all I could think was "damn I am so lucky I get my own car". I saw other kids who had their parents buy them new Mercedes for their 16th birthday and all I could think in my head at the time was "what a waste of money". Spending that much on a kid when they are young gives them bad expectations about life and it really is harmful tbh.

I'd be more interested to know how many of them have an iPhone right now.  86% may plan to make it their next phone but a lot can happen between a casually considered pipe dream and the reality of actually making a purchase or getting someone else to do so.  I can't tell you how many times I've planned to buy one thing but completely changed my mind after some research, which in this case could include functionality and/or price.  Hell at one point or another, I've planned to get an eMac, an iPod, and a MacBook, but ultimately ended up with something else in every case.

Nah, teens with new S10+ are spoiled brats as well. 

Problem is, that meme was made back when most of phones were somewhat reasonably priced, not just trying to catch Apple in price gauging.

Positive news? If you consider fishy survey with questionable methodology as positive news, I got bad news for you

Feels like too small of a sample size to represent the entire massive nation of the US

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

They have an iPhone because it's a status symbol, not because they need one. Also, kids are spoiled brats. I bought every single phone I had since I was a teenager. That was back when dumb phones were a thing. I bought every single one of them since then till now when I got myself iPhone XR for a bit over 800€. The most expensive phone I've ever owned. But ok, I bought it for a reason (privacy). I doubt kids who hang on Fecesbook all day long want iPhone because of that...

 

I'm sure some kids work and save up for it, but what I've seen in general they just expect parents to buy them one and they rage like toddlers if they don't...

I see nothing but a person on the internet who is in contempt of other people who are socio-economically just as capable as your family but are willing to spend more.

 

being a spoiled kid simply means the constant reliance on their parents or elder to get what they want without the willingness to achieve something on their own.

 

If someone's family is rich and he was given all the high-end branded stuffs from his parents but nonetheless he's still capable achieving means on his own, how is that being spoiled.

I am not even surprised for US tbh. The picture is much different in Europe though. I wouldn't be surprise if this is more a rule than exception.

Yeah, people have iPhones, but large majority has Androids, at least in my country.

100% of surveys are not empirical evidence and do not show revealed preference or predict the actions of what people actually do, so this is total bs.

Teens who are walking around with an "iPhone" are not only spoiled but also plain dumb, imo.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

9/10 spending wasteful amount of money on a kid to buy things they dont need is going to end up spoiling them. I have seen it all the time and it is actually pretty sickening tbh. I have seen it even in people who are very capable people and do make plenty of achievements on their own yet it still got to them. I knew this girl who was had a 4.0 in high school was captain of the soccer team and was on student council. All around over achiever yet when it came to them going to college they were super upset that their parents wouldn't buy them a 2k dollar macbook. Money will spoil kids.

Neither do those phones as they don't implement proper 4G encryption.

Well, a lot of teens tend to place more importance on appearance and fashion than value or functionality. iPhones definitely offer that, if nothing else. I have no precise numbers, but I'm pretty sure you'd have gotten a similar result if you had asked teens "what would you like your next phone to be?" 10 years ago. Even I would have liked an iPhone when I was 14 (not quite 10 years ago, but close enough) which, if you're familiar with my current opinion of Apple products, says something about how relevant teen mindshare is.
