wall03 reacted to CPotter in Thoughts on Opera GX?
Our team has received a few offers to be sponsored by Opera GX over the past year or so, and we've always said "no" because of the general shadiness that clouds Opera and their parent company.

However, I've had a tough time pointing to any single thing I've seen them do in recent years, and I see TONS of positive reviews from users so I'm wondering if anyone here can educate myself and the team on why Opera GX sucks or doesn't suck?

Here's an editorial video that we did on Opera GX years ago if anyone's interested:

You don't need to use it as a smart TV.

Just connect it to media players through HDMI.

It's there, it's just very similar to the background colour. I vaguely remember that button being a really tough one to find a good colour for, because it shouldn't be visually striking.

wall03 reacted to Chase Douglas in An Update Regarding LTX 2022
Due to what we've observed with other events over the course of the past year, we've made the tough decision to delay LTX until 2023.

This wasn't an easy decision, but with COVID-19 still affecting events worldwide, this is what we felt we needed to do. Our goal with LTX is to increase interactivity each year as we grow, and we feel that this isn't yet possible for us to do in a safe manner.

We want LTX to return, it's just a matter of when. We've been working on a lot of ideas and partnerships behind the scenes, and are looking forward to sharing those when the time is right.
Sorry for the bad news, we can't wait to see you all in person again.

Bold move, let's see if it pays off for them. The average Joe isn't going to see this ad and think "Tesla self driving is bad, we should buy a competing self driving car". They'll think "self driving cars are dangerous, I shouldn't buy one".
Like it or not a lot of people associate self driving or electric cars with Tesla.

I'd love to see a company other than Apple succeed in the smartphone market by making their own hardware and software. I was kind of hoping it would be Google or Samsung, but Google struggles making popular hardware and Samsung struggles making popular software.

Obviously it's been a long time since anyone cared about Blackberry, but they at least have the name recognition so that if they launch something legitimately good it'll have a chance to get some coverage and enough buzz to get the ball rolling.

That's actually not true anymore. At Tesla's latest tech conference they shared how the AI model for self driving works and it behaves like a brain. When they want to make it learn something new like a type of sign it doesn't know they'll train a small model first and then the larger model ingests it to learn that skill without the training needed. I'm not sure if it can use it's existing knowledge to make predictive decisions on things it has never seen but AI exists that can do this. So it's only a matter of time before we can incorporate it all in one.

Only real "Ai" was the one where they actually emulated how neurons behave. Iirc the machine was on intelligence level of a mice at the time.

And main reason why I always complain about all the Ai bullshit is that it's all still static algorithmic behavior which is why I can't ever call it "Ai" but just good old algorithms with fancy name smacked on them. Real Ai would ALWAYS store results and always have some benefit from it at a later point if task is similar or same. None of today's neural chips do that. They may perform clever tasks, but the moment they are done with particular task, puff, all the "learning" is gone.

Technically, if Ai was done right and neural chips could store their data and reuse it at later time for next tasks, it should technically become faster and faster every time. Today it only gets faster because they give neural engines more execution units that chew through tasks faster than old one. There is no learning or optimization involved on same version of the chip. Because none use store and recall functions in any capacity.

Soooo, unless this thing can do exactly that, it's no different than all the neural engine chips we have already.

    My thoughts
Although i am very excited to see a real working AI that anyone could purchase and program im not certain on how legitimate their claims are, their stock hasn't changed much in the last few months despite signing deals with the megachips corporation in japan and although as of this posting you can go to their website and buy a development kit from them i still remain sceptical if this is really possible technology or if its just snake oil. (really hoping its real).

Having a system that shows you on what % you are compared to all would encourage post farming and farming of XP to achieve it, which is NOT how the system is designed or to be used. I have to agree with @LogicalDrm that I am not a fan of ranking systems either as it encourages this type of behavior/attitude.
