Spaceman_Wil got a reaction from TeaRoomMosh in Looking to run two monitors, should they be the same resolution and size ?
When you run a monitor at 144hz/165hz/anything above 60hz, your GPU has to work harder just to run that monitor. So if you have two monitors running at a high refresh rate, you will see that extra work your GPU is having to do reflected in your gaming. You will see less performance, lower frame rates, and higher GPU temps. If your 1080p monitor is just for streaming/youtube/non gaming applications, you really don't need anything above 60hz.

Yea different resolutions is not something to worry about. What you will want to watch out for is if your GPU can handle two high performance monitors. You may bring the refresh rate down to 60hz on the 1080p one if your 1440p monitor is 144hz or anything above 60hz.

Spaceman_Wil got a reaction from Zelenia in Reducing cooling to reduce overall noise
It cost me a few extra bucks but to reduce noise, I replaced all my fans with Noctuas and boy was that a game changer in both the cooling and noise department.

After a quick skim my initial reaction was no way, but after diving into the specs, you'll actually be coming out ahead I think with this. Not only will you be on more modern architecture, you'll be a step above what you've got. The GPU appears better. CPU clock speed is better, RAM is better. You'll be in a great position dude

I wouldn't. I mean you theoretically could. But you'd of course have to turn your PC off first, I don't think SSDs are hot-swappable by default. Is this your own business? I know most companies would never allow that. I'd worry with the SSD that maybe while walking around with it you trip and fall on it, misplace it, or something out of your control happens to it and now you're liable for damaging company hardware. It seems like a bad idea to me.

That's totally fine. An increase like that would be normal. From what you've described about your PSU, it sounds like normal behavior. If it is a bit warm to the touch, the added temps to your overall system would be explained like that. Anything that heats up the air inside your case will have that effect. What I'd recommend would be a second fan on the front of your case to pull that fresh air in and another fan on the top slot of your case pushing out. That would probably be a rather big impact on your temps.

Additionally, I'd 100% recommend an aftermarket cooler for your CPU. That'll help too! Noctua makes some great stuff that fits in just about everything.

    Hello,

If you want to consider AMD for GPU too you have this : https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-radeon-rx-5700-xt-gv-r57xtgaming-oc-8gd/p/N82E16814932208?Description=5700 xt&cm_re=5700_xt-_-14-932-208-_-Product same price and perform better

Ryzen is definitely the way to go. I think with your budget, I would get the Ryzen 5 3600X and maybe pair it with a GTX 1660 Super? That should be plenty to get you going. Anything less than that card and you're going to be hitting bottleneck issues.

So having had the same question and doing tons of research on it previously, what I learned was best practice is case | radiator | fans but in the end you'll only see a couple degrees of a difference if any.

I think you can do home to enterprise, I have done it, just put the enterprise key in and you get the extra features.

But if its for a company, you should probably wipe and put a fresh image on it.

Do what @Spaceman_Wil suggested on the post above. It's most likely the fans might not be connected to the power header or it might be something else entirely.

The one you have listed there looks good! The specific things I look for in motherboards that to me indicate good quality is how many fan headers you have available and does the PCI slot have a winged release. That motherboard has 5 fan headers by my count and the winged PCI release. 5 is a great number of headers, most I see at that price point have 3-4.

Trust me. They may not sound that important, but you will appreciate having the space for more cooling down the road.

Spaceman_Wil got a reaction from Jaxxx in Tips where bottleneck maybe?
Looks like a rather balanced build to me. If you want to see for yourself, an easy way to see is play pubg and have your taskmanager open to the performance tab. Whatever is at 100% is your bottleneck. Additionally make sure all your drivers are updated

Spaceman_Wil got a reaction from Blindeagle in do i wait or buy 1080ti now?
I'm in the same boat and this has been my thinking. Currently I am getting by. I have a GTX 970 and it works fine. It's absolutely bottlenecking my i7 8700k and I'm not getting the performance I want, but it works. Because of this, I am waiting on buying a card to see what Nvidia has to offer at the end of this month. If I don't like it, I'll buy the 1080ti (which might drop in price with the release of the new cards) but if the new stuff looks good, I'll pick up one of those.

Let me tell you, it has been a struggle waiting. But I think it will be worth it in the end

I helped my friend setup his PC and he has the EXACT setup you do. He streams Pubg, Rocket League, and Fortnite at 60fps. He's usually hanging around med-high settings. I think you'll be fine. You would definitely need to set OBS to use the GPU and NVEC. You can definitely stream though!
