Fine,  laugh all you want, I don't care. Be happy playing Star Wars Outlaws where the lead female character was deliberately uglified (compare the original actress Humberly Gonzalez against the rendered lead Kay Vess and tell me if you see the resemblance) to suit 'modern audiences' whatever the hell that means. Game journos who once panned games like Nier Automata's 2B when it was released are now praising it as an example of good looking character that many women cosplay to (because they know they'd get slammed for criticizing a now established character like her)., but Eve from Stellar Blade is too sexy/curvy and unrealistic? At the very least, these yahoos should try to be a little more consistent, don't you think? Her body is based on a Korean woman, albeit a Maxim model, but it's real, yet western journos (IGN) are saying having her character's body is unrealistic, and that women would unalive themselves when men comparted her to them, I shit you not!

With games costing a fair bit of money, I'm being more discerning when it comes to games I play, decent remakes like DSR is fine by me (though Nicole was again deliberately uglified as is the norm) as gameplay is still good. But I'm not touching games that are "made for modern audiences" (which include a lot of woke stuff), also do note that male characters are often rendered well, well enough to resemble their real life actors/models, and are presented as being very buff or manly, female characters, on the other hand, can never be curvy? Sorry, my money, my choice and I choose to play more based games, but IF you enjoy and relish playing uglified characters, with various included SJ messages/storyline as 'bonuses', more power to you!🙄

Also, other than not at all curvy female characters, they are presented as androgenous looking with male facial features, making them look like trans...if you like that look, fine, your money, you can buy whatever you like. I don't like where AAA and western games are going with all these (trans looking female characters, race swapping, look at SBI and BGG influenced games, black female leads (no objection to any female lead, but all the time?) so I'll stick to what I like. For me, gaming is a form of escapism, I do NOT need to see 'real life' reflected in games (something more idealized would be preferable), life is ugly enough as is, I don't want it in the games I play.

Oh yeah, to prevent myself from getting involved in a pointless debate, you're so ignored henceforth....

JR1911 reacted to manikyath in Why do peeps generally complain about Always-Online gaming?
yes.. but a feature that is not useful to consumers deserves the negative attention, because if we just ignore the problem "because it's a for-profit product" it will actually end in the games crypto-mining on our GPU's...

in fact, this exact example has happened in the past.

including these non-consumer-friendly features in software should always have a negative impact on the public image, because that makes it a consideration for the business to include it or not. if we dont care, they will keep pushing until they find a point where we do. that's how business works.

i know it's obvious you want to be blind to the problems of always online, but that doesnt take away from the fact it's a system that has ZERO benefit to the end user, while being the source of many issues for the end user.

@LinusTechLies GamersNexus is also just a corporation. Never forget that. Everyone who does YT for a living is a corporation. You can´t trust GN more than any other youtuber.

I have no problem with your comment and I have no problem with your opinions but I notice your username. I also notice you are new here. I don't know how old you are or how personally effected you feel are by this whole thing. I just want to say don't take it personally. At the end of the day it is just youtube and is just gaming. Life goes on. No fan should be this personally involved in anything they watch on youtube.

I got an LTT screwdriver pretty early on and love it, well worth the $70, especially if you use it all day everyday for work like I do. It's a quality product. As for jumping to this right away, way to hop on the pitchfork bandwagon without even waiting for anything to get sorted or remedied.

JR1911 reacted to Stahlmann in Madison reveals experiences working at LMG
If the public hears about such allegations, most people lose interest about the whole situation BEFORE there is a real verdict that is made in court for example. And because of that, even if the allegations turn out to be wrong, most people who heard about them will not hear that they're wrong. With stuff like this, allegations can completely ruin someone even if they're proven wrong.

So in Twitter's mind LTT and Linus already are abusers and no matter how it will turn out, most people will either stick with their own narrative because they like it more or don't care long enough to ever hear the truth.

Whoever is in the wrong should be persecuted. If you're throwing around stuff like this, you better have proof to back it up. Chances are very high that LMG will go after them with a defamation lawsuit. They probably already lost huge amounts of money due to the GN video and Madison's claims just because of sponsors jumping ship.

This is an old thing. i think this has been debated to the end, like also the sexual harrasment case (with that 3d print youtuber, i think she is called YU) there is no evidence in anything. there is indications, so this is completely different thing that what is being discussed here.

there is also always two sides, are the load too high, or are the work ethics too low. i think it can be hard to get to the bottom of this.

JR1911 reacted to LAwLz in EA's Jedi Survivor extremely difficult to access for lefties and people with a disability.
I think it is a very big stretch to say you are being discriminated against just because a game doesn't allow you to change the controls in a particular way. I don't like when people stretch the definition of words because it makes them lose their meaning. By categorizing minor annoyances as "discrimination" you are in a way making fun of people who have suffered more severe discrimination.

This seems like a big oversight on the developer's part though. If it's been this way for so long, and people have voiced their opinions about it without any fix in sight then I think it would be best for you to use one of the several workarounds suggested. If you don't want that, then refunding the game and not playing it until the issue is fixed is your best bet.

JR1911 reacted to Coaxialgamer in Western Digital is releasing Dual-Actuator HDD with performance close to SSDs
The performance advantage of something like a SATA SSD over a hard drive was never about sequential speed though. A good 7.2k RPM drive can do 250MB/s, which is fine for basically anything most people would need a drive to do (and certainly faster than any internet connection if you were downloading something).

The problem was and always will be random performance, a problem inherent to the technology of spinning media. Adding a second actuator to improve performance is like putting a band-aid on a small scrape while ignoring the gaping, bleeding wound a few inches below. And the way I see it, that's even more true now that SSDs have become so cheap per gig.

The only strength HDDs have left is cost and (for now) density. Making hard drives faster is a cool engineering achievement, but it's sort of like trying to engineer (breed?) a faster horse in an era where cars are available.

Edit: yes, I have been made aware that some applications would favor a faster hard drive. I still remain unconvinced that this a viable direction for the technology as a whole, but that's just my layman assessment. In any case, no need to tell me about them.

JR1911 reacted to Middcore in WHY?!
I'm sure somebody somewhere posted something along these lines for every major advancement in graphical standards of years past.

There is no direct relationship between resolution and these things.

Only a few GPU's are meaningfully limited by PCIe 3.0. You certainly don't need 5.0 for 4k gaming.

In number of pixels, there is actually a bigger jump from 1440p to 4k than there is from 1080p to 1440p.

1080p is approximately 2 million pixels.
1440p is a little under 3.7 million pixels.
    4k is 8.3 million pixels.

Of course pixel density comes into play depending on the size of the screen.

If 4k isn't a good value proposition for you yet, that's fine. It isn't for me either. That doesn't mean it's "stupid" or pointless.

Have you checked the Cafe for your next Menu Book? You probably have to do something else before more races and tracks unlock. Completing Menu Book 2 for example unlocks Brands Hatch and Goodwood. To complete it you have to pass test B-1 at the License Centre.

I'd definitely recommend getting a second controller and a charging stand, the battery life on the Dualsense controller isn't great, especially if the game uses the haptic feedback functions. Personally I got the official PS5 charger so that way I always have one controller fully charged and can change them on the fly.

There is an extra slot for an additional SSD, adding one doesn't replace the internal SSD so adding a 2TB drive would give you almost 3TB of total storage.

It's a fantastic game. There's been some people that have been able to mainline it in 35-40 hours, but you'd have to be moving like a demon. I'm already 30 hours in and I've maybe hit 20% completion. There's a ton of content, and it's honestly just fun exploring the world, doing nothing in particular. It's easily worth $60.
