I feel like Intel has just annoyed someone in Apple who will now spend a lot of time, money, and effort to make Mac the best gaming experience.

Belgarathian reacted to The_russian in 'Apple is eating our lunch': Google employees admit in lawsuit that the company made it nearly impossible for users to keep their location private
They know what they are doing, do you think settings are hard to find because a company as big and successful as Google couldn't hire a competent person to make a settings page where settings that a user is likely to change are easy to find? No, they know which settings can lead to less user data being collected, which will result in less revenue for Google, so they aren't going to make it easy to change those settings.

Belgarathian reacted to Spindel in Apple M1 vulnerability found
    Summary
A flaw in the design of the Apple Silicon “M1” chip allows any two applications running under an OS to covertly exchange data between them, without using memory, sockets, files, or any other normal operating system features. This works between processes running as different users and under different privilege levels, creating a covert channel for surreptitious data exchange.

I don't get what the news is?

Apple has never claimed to not hand over your data if requested by local law enforcement agencies if the request was valid. Also (based on what Apple has said in the past), the only have access to the information you store in iCloud. So what is on your phone, stays on your phone.

TL;DR, someone broke the law, FBI subpoenaed Apple for their information, Apple provided their iCloud data and notified the user.

They need a beating for obeying the law? This is a non-story. Apple has to obey the law just like everyone else. This person's gripe should be with the government that requested their data. And by the way this is happening literally every day.

"Privacy" means they don't sell your data like every other company.

Belgarathian reacted to dilpickle in You'll Soon Be Able to Control an Apple Watch Using Hand Gestures
Samsung had gestures and eye tracking in their phones years ago and no one used it. Google put a radar sensor with exactly 2 gestures in the Pixel 4 and then quietly dropped it the next year.

Notice that Apple is promoting this as an accessibility feature. Nobody else is going to use it.

I know everyone loves to shit on Apple constantly, but I'd absolutely like to know why his account was terminated. Coz I don't see how Apple would just randomly terminate someone's account for no reason what so ever. And really, that is the most important part. Coz you really need to screw something really badly that they terminate not only your account but also all content associated with it.

Just so we're all clear; this would have been a design choice by Apple to ensure that the laptop was comfortable to use for extended durations away from the desk where it may be sitting on your lap, or otherwise. Not Apple deliberately gimping the laptop to sell more pro devices.

12 Chiplets: Possible but also physically and electrically problematic [Edit again] (Read the source, actually claiming 12 chiplets. I should read sources first lol) 12 core CCD makes far more sense than 8 core CCD with Zen 4 if this many cores. 12 DDR5 Memory Channels: Possible, unnecessary and also physically and electrically problematic 128/160 PCIe 5.0: Likely correct 350W-400W TDP: Unlikely, lower TDP parts are already proprietary water cooling only and this is 100W+ more than those Random meaningless credibility score from random dude on the internet: 3/10
