encrypted web browsing at the same speeds as your standard Internet meanderings. The new system, named Hornet, boasts speeds of up to 93GBps, making it one the fastest, if not the fastest, high-speed anonymous network to date. 

Hornet, an acronym for High-speed Onion Routing at the Network Layer, works somewhat similarly to the The Onion Router (Tor) network, which encrypts and decrypts data arbitrarily across the servers of the network. But currently, this process can be painfully slow, as each level of encryption involves yet another set of operations as the data moves through the network. Tor “suffers from performance and scalability issues: as more clients use Tor, more relays must be added to the network.”

Rather than sending data from computer to computer, this new system, creates a set of encryption keys (and routing information) on your home machine. This, theoretically, cuts down on much of the time the network has to spend passing data around, ultimately allowing for more seamless (but still secure) web browsing.

Its not just for browsing fucked up stuff. If you for any reason wish to conseal who you are and I can think of many reasons then a system like this is nice. Assuming it is trust worthy.

dark or deep web is basicly anything that isn't listed by Google, Facebook, Bing or the main web. Stuff you need IP's or url's for and such.

Yes stuff like the Silk road was there. But there is more, more shady and less shady. People who kill and people who don't want to be known are on there.

Rough generalization. All of dark web is in deep web, but not all deep web is dark web.

 

Deep web is simply websites that are hidden from search engines and such, dark web is where all the illegal stuff is.

Hidden from search engines? It's more that search engines don't index them (for obvious reasons), rather than the website wanting to remain hidden

Who knows? There are more reasons than one would expect, or just simply because they want to. Even if something on deep web would be legal, it could be controversial, or the host just doesn't want random outsiders there for some reason. No-one knows, except the host(s), and it's their choice.
