Ok here is GoodByte's secret sauce on how to become a mod. SHHUuut Don't tell any mods!

  1. You need to be of age greater than 13 years old. This is Canada, the forum is in Canada, and so the governmental rules applies.
  2. You need to fill in the form 13B yellow on Linus Media Group site. To get this form, you need to fill in 7B Green form. This after the Orange 7B Yellow form, not to be confused with the Orange 7B Yellow form on Yellow paper. The paper of that form is actually Green. And no, its not the 7B Green form mentioned earlier.  The 13B yellow form is to request to be a mod.
  3. Never request to be a mod.
  4. You need to send a mod, bonus points if its me, at you full expense, a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti reference design or better (backed with multiple reviews. Minus points for using Linus as a source... as it is too easy). The graphics card model changes every now and then without warning.
  5. A large water fountain to a mod with installation service, to be place in the front of a mods home (again, bonus points if send to me... hey I don't make the rules...) Larger the water fountain the better.
  6. A 8K OLED 32inch wide gamut, with HDR and Nvidia G-Sync support with a programmable 14bit LUT and 12-bit color processor, 1.07 billion color . You can pick the model and brand. Again, this changes without notice. Bonus points if you send it to SansVarnic, but I recommend to send it to me... for complex reasons.

Now, after all this is completed within 1 week. your name will be put into a hat, and burned to ashes with the hat. The remains are put into another hat, and then it gets incinerated. Once done, we collect the left overs and put into another hat.. and if we pick anything but dust... and it happens to be your name that is fully and easily readable by me, you MAY be a mod.

It's real easy. we all did this.

Fun fact: Normally the model of GPU in point 4 is updated with each new generation however due to the current GPU shortage moderators are still accepting GTX 1080 Ti's, equivalent, or better.

I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.

I'll just wait until more than 3-4 selected AAA games and a handful of demos are able to use the feature, more realistic lights and shadows are pretty neat but that's about everything it does nowadays

eh, baby steps

it's like linux, chicken and egg issue

im glad nvidia is at least pushing for it, once it gets implemented and matures, it'll be great

what is "fake"? isnt every game a fake render?

i dont care how it achieve it as long as it looks good and the experience is good

It's the case. At launch it was a meme with few supported titles, but that was 3 years ago already.

That'd be a deep philosophical question. I meant upscaling the render from native res up to 2/4K is kind of faking it as your monitor isn't able to display such resolutions.

you mean 2k/4k to 1080p? that's downscaling

upscaling (which i think you're talking about the tensor cores, or DLSS) is where you take a lower res image and upscaling it

I tried it and it ended up decreasing the quality, everything looked blurry and like it was a PS1 game even at Ultra graphics, tried fixing it with Radeon Sharpening and some other settings and nothing seemed to improve it so I had to disable it, even the desktop looked terrible

Yep you got it backwards. FSR/DLSS resize a smaller render for a bigger res monitor without requiring as much performance, obviously also not looking exactly as good as native render. But Nvidia's offering is way better than AMD, not surprising the latter isn't that impressive.

Overwolf or is it another name now? Remember it being janky and unstable when i last tried amd's software for recording stuff..

Now shadowplay isnt perfect itself either as every second month or third it just acts up and dies needing an entire re-install to fix the drivers 😞

Hopefully over time nvndia fixes their shit and gets it more stable.

Used to be amdfanboy until their drivers nearly killed my second amd card 🙃
