eyy i got that mobo, but with the AGP slot and missing the bottom PCI, plenty of CPUs for it and the original case, PSU and cooler aswell. have no use for it so its just laying appart while the case is used for fun stuff like the LAN PC 5.0 xD

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

even though my hatered for these burns deep, i have never seen one in a box. thats actiually much nicer than what they use now -_-

also i have a delided LGA775 P4, havent tested but should be working perfectly. can confirm that they use solder unlike some PGA478 ones which seem to be a mix of paste and solder depending on year and model

are you going to put an ATX motherboard in the chassis?  I always loved how the powermac G5s were put together, they should have really given you an optional side panel so you can see how wonderfully arranged the innards were

I'd love a PowerMac G5 honestly. I've been looking around for a used one I can use as a workstation for OSX-exclusive software, but prices are pretty high practically everywhere.

If it wasn't for longevity I'd be looking for an iMac or MacBook Pro but a full desktop like the G5 is significantly easier to keep running in the long term since I can actually upgrade hardware.

Yes I'm probably going to put HP z400 parts in there, most likely a xeon w3565 and a quadro 4000, which I'll use to run a perfectly legit copy of an OS I'm 100% allowed to run on this kind of hardware and discuss on this forum ;)

Well, it is easier to keep running once you've modded it to house standard ATX-compliant components that run the x86 instruction set and use PCIe extension cards. Otherwise, you're limited to PowerPC, which was ditched in 2005 iirc. Just look at these daughterboard CPUs!

Picked up a clean Atari 1040ST yesterday... mint in box and not even yellowed!

I now own the three 16bit computers i really wanted as a kid... the 1040st, an Amiga 1000, and an Apple IIGS.  I just need to find one game that is available for all three platforms so I can compare.

Finally gave in and cloned this ol' girl that was in my Presario 2286 to an 80GB Hitachi drive and added a 31.5ish GB FAT32 partition to replace the 40GB DiamondMax 8 I had all the games and such stored on. Somewhat hilariously I chose the Hitachi drive over a newer Barracuda 7200.7 of the same capacity because it has that spindle whine which I find oddly soothing.

Only downside of this "upgrade" is I can no longer hear the heads clunking about. :(

Same here. Remember when ram sticks were only 128 MB? I will have to post a pic when I get a chance to find it.

On the hard drive, just recycled/shredded some 80 MB drives a few weeks ago. Couldn't save then because of the data on them, confidential things like ss numbers, had to shred them.

It looks like a Socket 478 or 186(I forget the exact numbers of early Intel sockets), so it would probably be one of the really early if not original Pentiums.
