I notice that there was a heatsink for the northbridge, based on the mounts for it. If you're planning to use that motherboard, find a NB heatsink or otherwise you'll end up with a weird-smelling motherboard that just exploded.

Let's be honest though, I highly doubt they'll want to once they see how overpriced RDRAM is and how shittily the P4's that used it performed.

jk, how the hell do i restore the color on this thing? a light brush and some windex got most of the dirt and all that off of it, but the color is still darker than it should be

You will go broke trying to get parts to make this run. If you are *very* lucky, the OS will be intact on the system, otherwise the cost to get the OS will rival that of a used car.

You will also find the world has left them in the dust. You can't get online with it, and your basic Celeron from 2007 will run rings around it.

But it's a very cool find all the same.

As to the color, repainting is about the only way. The original paint fades/discolours from the environment and heat and there is little you can do to restore that.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

It runs, has an OS, all inside works. This was confirmed when I bought it. I need to get a video cable to run it myself.

And of course it's useless for anything modern, it's a 133mhz MIPS processor, it has networking potential in the same way my Thinkpad 701c does, text only at best.

im not repainting it, it's not painted to begin with (a lot of people elsewhere on the web have been claiming it's painted as well)

its speckled blue and black plastic, all the way through, I can't mimic that paint or properly replace the I N D Y myself, I need to find out how to lift the surface staining

since it's only on the top, I presume it's oil, I'm gonna guess from the guy who sold this that it was once in a factory

And so far, baking soda and scrubbing has helped a lot. But it's darker than it should be.

You are one lucky guy.

There is some orange-based cleaner (or use Simple Green) that *might* work....good luck on that

(I'm actually using this card reader in my current machine, it's still useful and I don't need anything else)

(same with this case, it's a case I pulled from the junk pile at my friend's shop, so I got it for free. it's very similar to a certain case from scrapyard wars, just not as shiny)

;) well it's just the case and the care reader that are ancient in my build, the insides are nice, it's a bit of a sleeper build.

Honestly wish I had one in mine unfortunately I have to use one through a USB cable since my case doesn't have front bays for shit.

My very first sound card. Adlib clone circa 1991 I believe from memory. I sold it and bought it back again not once but twice in high school and it's the reason why many Sierra game soundtracks, Police Quest 2 especially, are still burnt in my brain. It turned up today as I was rummaging through what was my parents old garage, though I live in that house now.

Just because you're 12, doesn't mean you can't have old computer parts. I have some Core 2 Duo, and a Nvidia 8800 GTS or something like that.

I know this is late, but don't the terms and conditions require you to be at least 13?

very cool!  You definitely don't see many OPL clones from that era.  You should build a computer around it.
