Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo

It is. Even without crawling in all the way, the oil drain bolt is easy to find, and the filter goes straight up. I used the Valvoline SynPro here as it was on sale with a Wix filter, and is, at least, a moderately reputable brand.

I also like how I got out nearly exactly as much as I put in. Car is burning virtually nothing.

Now, I wonder how easy the Chrysler 2.7 will go in my parent's Charger, the next (badly overdue) one on the list.

chrysler 2.7? drive it until it blows up. maintenance wont save that boat anchor.

I've heard that being stringent on oil changes can help prevent sludge, at least, until the water pump decides to vomit. It is a 2008, which I believe had an upgraded water pump gasket to address that issue to some degree. Though as my dad is quite lax on maintenence, I fear there may already be sludge issues.

Only worse engine I can think of is maybe the old chevy diesels from the 80s that were just gas engines with super high compression ratios.

That sounds like something an engineer should be incapable of even thinking of.

On another note, I didn't change the oil on my car myself last year, or the year before, because I was in the army. So I completely forgot it this year. It has been due for a while now. I hope the bad thread juju won't claim yet another victim.

I feel extra vulnerable because this thread also had an appetite for Jettas a while back.

lol yeah, my dad worked in the trade back when that thing was in cars. Lots of head gaskets. Thats also when flat rate started becoming a thing, so lots of shortcuts were made on those repairs.

What really matters is the mileage. 1 year isn't too bad for an oil change.

It is a petrol engine. :D 1 liter, 3 cylinder.

They just haven't put an exhaust on it. It's currently away to have JRZ suspension fitted to it. It's probably not long until they deal with the breaks and the exhaust as well.

Oh haha. I see the big torque number and how quiet it was and thought "diesel" lol

the JRZ suspension is gonna make a big difference, they make really nice stuff.

Yeah. They have two other cars with JRZ suspension as well. A GT86, and an M2. The GT86 have had 'some' work done to it.

Not much from me. Toyota needs to shitcan all their designers and start from square one. Their new stuff is some of the most repulsive designs I've ever seen.

Too bad, I really like the new design but I agree some things needs polishing. What I hate about Lexus is their choice of engines, some slow turbo 4 cylinder or even slower hybrid v6. They won't sell IS/RC350 in Europe but they will sell you an F model which then gets taxed to hell.
