Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Stock is 22 lbs. next step down is 14(I think)... I want a lighter one but I'm concerned about noise. While I know it won't really make a difference at AutoX, they don't want you having one and I don't want them to hear it. The extra rev-happiness would be awesome though... especially for rev matching. I've always found it that I have to blip the throttle quite a bit, feel like it should be better than that

that wont throw off the balance of the rotating assembly though, right? I'd assume no if it's from a reputable brand

why they dont want you to have a lighter flywheel?

agreed. The guy I met who has that Lotus that he bought that ended up being rare, told me that he really loves the car and he knows it's built for driving and really wants to drive it, but because of how things went it now pains him to drive it because it's appreciating asset when it sits in his garage.

So it's not that he doesn't want to drive it, it just hurts inside a little when he does.

that said, I'm glad he let me drive it :P

wonder if I can get a machine shop to drill some holes in my existing flywheel to cut the weight down a bit, but not as much as the other flywheels so it doesn't make too much noise. (and keep it balanced how it is)

Had this baby to try out recently:

Almost fully equipped Audi Q7, 3.0 TDI, 270 HP.

Sweet ride, but kind of heavy when braking, despite those not really small brake discs :)

That sucks, but shouldn't upgraded suspension or wheels change your class?

You are only allowed to change 1 sway bar to something else and your shocks. That's all you can do as far as stock class goes.

you can't even change your radiator.. which is something I wanted to do because the stock one stinks because miatas have poor airflow into the engine bay.

everything you can't touch has to be OE parts

Can't really afford it and my car isn't really competive anywhere else unless you spend A LOT of money and do things like engine swaps...

Found a one year long course in vehicle mechanics. That has mostly practical learning. Fingers crossed that it'll be there in a year.

Never been a theory guy. I'm more of a practical learner. So that would be perfect.

Camshaft sensors fail on my Miata as well.

they don't on the 99 and 00 models though.

only because they moved the sensor to the back of the head where it sits in hot oil. Whereas on the older miatas it was at the front on the dry part of the head by the cam gear.

also if it fails the car will not start. So practice is to change it every 2 years

oh and I keep one in the trunk with a 10mm stubby wrench JIC
