Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

that 630 is the one i was interested in

Well.. There is only one for sale.. Soo

Made a new friend the other day, here's his Lude I'll be buying in June if he doesn't get something else before then. Only 130K on the clock and has been serviced on schedule for the 3 or 4 years he's owned it.

I'm a big fan on the looks, it's got the JDM styled yellow fog lights, Halos, factory spoiler with the factory lip kit, not sure what's it's got for exhaust or anything like that. But it's an automatic with a slap shift mode which is really nice for me. I also believe those wheels are from a RSX, but I'm not sure about that

Wow not much posts today; I'll liven it up a bit:

First a bit of funny;

9ffda53acbc605a712c060eed8937e91.jpg

And now since me and my friend were getting tired of organizing the shop (we still have lots to do), we installed his new intercooler ( @MEC-777 hehe) on his ecoboost today. It was quite a process of removing the front bumper and the worst part was removing the active grill covers which is the most fiddly thing I've ever seen mounted on the front of a car. But we eventually got it and it worked out great. The stock intercooler is hilariously small, pictures don't do it justice. We replaced it with a mishimoto that mounts in the factory location. It made a HUGE difference. After a few (3 or so) pulls the IAT's would be like 40F hotter than ambient but with this they were only 5F hotter. Which is amazing. The car now keeps on pulling when you get to 110mph, it used to kind of die around there from heat soak lol.

Ever heard of the dualling screws move? xD this was my friend when he was taking off the active grill cover thing. Little did he know 40 minutes later we would still be working on taking it off lol

RIPIP warranty xD BUT! No more pulled timing :D

They put the active grille on a turbo car? Doesn't seem right.

Yeah. Aerodynamics. I'm not sure if it closes if your foot is on the floor. Only thing ford seems to say about it is it closes "above x speed"

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It doesn't seem to affect temps at high speed with WOT so my guess is it stays open

It must... especially on a GDI car. Kinda surprised they didn't go with a top mounted intercooler too. That car could pull it off easily.

i mean a golf r isn't as wild as the rs. it has less power compared to the rs, so it might be better. plus a teen likes to have fun anyway.

thank goodness they didn't though. with the engine bay open like it is, it makes it easy to work on things.

Does the wire for a spark plug wire need to be crimped to the metal node?

I would imagine if you get the thing tight enough on the plug no, but it would certainly help?

You could just go get another wire :P

There's like a dozen clips I can't take apart because they're behind the valve covers and intake manifold.

Oh I remember you saying something about that. That was a poor design choice

It's great for keeping them off of things that will harm the cables and keeps them organized but holy fuck I broke two of them because I can't get the damn things to open.

Fun. :P
