using windows 11 23h2

Guess either dead PCI slots or dead GPU then.
More likely the GPU.
Any chances of borrowing another GPU for testing or testing the card in another guys PC?

my current system is a intel i7 3770k with 16gb dd3 ram (power supply is a VS450)

I tried installing an Msi gtx 560 ti (msi n560gtx-ti-m2d1gd5/oc)

without the gpu installed it works perfectly

but with the gpu installed it wont post, with both onboard and dedicated slots

tried both pcie slots on my motherboard ( msi z77ma-G45) but it still doesnt work

Have you tried the GPU in a different pc? It may be faulty and causing it not to post.

You could also try resetting the CMOS by taking the battery out for a minute or two then putting it back in

I dont have a different pc to try it on

but no i havent tried resetting the CMOS, ill try it now and will let you know if it works or not

Try updating the Bios https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z77MAG45/support

If that fails, try Clearing the CMOS by removing CMOS battery and shorting the CLR_CMOS jumper pin on the motherboard

Please click the "Thumbs Up" on any volunteer's post to thank them if they helped .(lower left, just to the right of My Computer )

Well with the info provided I would assume it is a GPU issue

Can you recall any events that may have damaged it?

no i cant

but the gpu is a pretty old one, my dad found it while clearing the shed (has been there for about 6 years±

Hmm it is likely just corroded or otherwise damaged if it has been there that long

aah ok thanks

You could try disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling? At this point I would argue there is not much to lose, it doesn't work now but it might just need a clean.

Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");

didnt work, and but i decided to take another look at it and then i saw there are spots where it looks like theres supposed to be capacitors (dont know if it was missing first time and i just didnt notice)

i circled the spots where it appears to be missing caps

i know where i can get caps and know where i can get them soldered, so if anyone knows if there is supposed to be caps there please let me know

Sometimes there are spots left like that for higher end models that use the same board, unless there is residue of a previous apparent capacitor I would say that looks normal

Are you running a completely updated windows? Which version?

I experienced once, where an older gen PC wouldn't post with a GTX 1060.
After updating windows it started working again.
I know it sounds weird, but I remember finding some forum posts to support the reason why.

However, it does unfortunately sound like a dead GPU 😞 So as others suggested, fastest way would be if you know somebody who has a working PC, and plug that GPU into their system and see if it works.

No POST when the card is installed even when you connected your display to iGPU is a sign of card causing pci device initialization problems. Its probably dead.
