Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I'm hopefully able to move to somewhere in between Marseille and Montpellier in a few years.. I really can't stand snow

i ski so i love snow but i also like classic cars and those two dont go together so thats one of the reasons why Geneva looks like a perfect place for me to live as Geneva has pretty mild weather but an hour or two south east and you can ski

Trucks FTW :P

know of any trucks with 50 inches of ground clearance because that how much snow we have on the ground atm. i really wish i had one of these

Minor garage update:

Since it was above 0F today (finally) I decided to get a few projects done in the garage. I got around to mounting the work tops that I made, and mounted a new vise I just bought!

I wanted a 6" vise but ended up with a 5". The price almost doubles from 5" to 6" unfortunately. Oh well, I recon I can get just about everything I need done with this guy.

40lbs of steel, 3lbs of grease :P

Pic of both tops mounted up:

A new vise sounds nice. The threads on mine are gacked after i somehow managed to hit them with a hammer..

The work space looks great though. When you've got some tools up they'll be easy to reach^^

I'm not sure I will hang much tools on there, I'm not the biggest fan of pegboard mounted tools.

If i was living in the warm climate of the south of France i'd happily take skiing holidays.

When i can't escape the snow however.. I hate it. Its just cold and miserable

I imagine there would be restrictions on steel tracked vehicles at least. (They tear up the road surface something fierce)

and this in the winter

Those look very.. Icelandic xD. Pretty cool^^

The top one still has steel contact surfaces. But the tracks might be removable judging by the rear tyres.

New tracks cost quite a bit though.

Speaking of my old volvo. If you look at the pic i posted earlier. What kind of rims would go with it. Preferably nothing chintzy. Just something plain.

And in terms of size just keep in mind that i like a bit of sidewall

Something like this would've been nice.. But I'd probably have to go with something a bit lower profile with slightly bigger rims to get a decent set of brakes in there.

i think the snow would do more damage to it then the car would do to the snow

is it dense, almost borderline ice, or fluffy, like fresh snow

ok i actually really want this. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/5415084333.html i mean, it's a 2003 model, in black, my favorite color, and it's cheap too, at 11 grand, probably negotiable, but the sad thing is 240k on the odo.  :(

AW11!!

Edit: what the heck is the thing strapped to the roof?

That would be a large wing.  Designed and build by a friend of ours who designs planes for Spinmaster Toys. ;)

There are currently 3 AW11's in our class. :D

Now that looks like fun^^.

Sprint car wing?

Edit: Not sprint car.. Damn i can't remember the name of the cars i've seen that kind of wing on..

It's very similar to a sprint car wing, just not quite a big. :)

And yes, it is functional.

I like the Chaparral-esque style of wing. Also that LMP2 style shark fin that is obviously just the number plate, but Id like to think it gives some latteral stability during your mad skids. Also Jeremy Clarkson inspired matte black paint job for cost savings I presume?

LoL good to see you're having fun. Studded or no?

I'd really love to get a Prelude this year, but I'm not too sure about FWD in the midwest's winters. My mom's Impala (all season tires, not the best idea) has all sorts of issues with our winters with tons of snow and ice over night. What are your experiences with FWD and tons of snow and ice?

Mostly better than RWD cars. Even though i'm not a huge fan of my golf it does get me where i need to go.
