But for $15,000 you could buy a tube chassis from Factory Five and have them fit it with either the EJ25 out of a GD Impreza or the EcoBoost from the mustang!

I'd rather have a Beetle. Sure, the 818 is cool, and it's faster and more nimble than the beetle, but it's not as cool IMO. The Beetle has character; It's an iconic, classic car. And I'm a sucker for old cars :P

If you had a Beetle, how would you make it?

Definitely a dune buggy or roadster.

So, what's better to start with. Coilovers? Or new sway bars?

Sway bars I assume.

not exactly sure what swaybars actually do mechanically but I'm guessing they defeat body roll so I guess if you have a "problem" with that I guess that's what you would go for

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Sway bars would be a good place to start. Alternate to coils would be bushings; a good set of tires is a must in any case.

I'm thinking nice tires and coilovers to start out with, then sway bars down the line.

So, what's better to start with. Coilovers? Or new sway bars?

Looking at what will help with handling the most

When it comes to handling you have to make a choice as to what exactly you want. The real answer to your question "what will help with handling the most?", is actually coilovers with specific spring rates and NO sway bars. That's right. If you want uncompromised corner-hugging, face-ripping lateral mechanical grip, yank those sway bars out and install a custom coilover setup.

There's an enormous amount of detail I could go into with regards to suspension setup formulas, etc. but the short end of it is; it's better to have the spring rates control vehicle roll rate than sway bars. Why? Because sway bars transfer spring rate force from one side of the vehicle to the other, effectively changing the wheel-rate. This causes the outside tires to become over loaded and the inside tires to become underloaded, reducing total mechanical grip. If there are bumps mid-corner, well that just makes the effect worse and leads to instability and unpredictability. There is actually a mathematical formula to calculate ideal spring rates that incorporates a wide range of vehicle-specific factors. (If anyone's interested in seeing how this works, let me know.)

Now, I'm assuming this is a mostly street driven vehicle? Do you do any forms of motorsport competition with the car? The reason I ask is because for mainly street applications, I recommend the opposite - keep with softer springs and use beefier sway bars. Why? Because on the street you drive in a straight line the majority of the time and ride comfort is more of a priority. If you go the "no sway bar" method, you'll need substantially stiffer springs/shocks which does not provide a smooth ride at all. With softer springs and bigger sway bars, you have a nicer ride and controlled body roll which can improve handling, but this combo will never handle as well as the spring rate method.

Depending on personal tastes, you can compromise and go with mild coilovers and keep the stock sway bars. This will give you better handling at the expense of a little bumpier ride, but it's up to you how far you want to take it. With our MR2 in full race setup, it was a VERY rough ride. Definitely would not want to drive that everyday. But man, it absolutely ate corners for breakfast, lol. It was also super stable and predictable. ;)

Long-winded reply, sorry. :P TL;DR:

For street use/ride comfort - Stock/mild springs with bigger sway bars.

For pure track/uncompromised handling - Calculated custom springs rates with adjustable dampeners to match and NO sway bars!

For street/track compromise - Mild/moderate coilover kit with stock sway bars.

That's because it's not being released yet. The "2016" model year being sold in 2015 does actually make sense. If it's a 2016 model year and sold throughout 2016, even if production begins in the end of 2015 it's still a 2016 vehicle. Having a concept car a few years before production is just what it is. A non-production work vehicle being tested but will go in to production for its model year. That Expedition won't be available for just over two more years.

Yep. Using classic and bump profile as well. ;)

PCmasterrace ftw! :D

lol yeah :D

LOL I've been using Jack's tweaker for the past month, definitely less noticeable clipping than default but still not as good of a steering feel than what I had in Assetto Corsa. Using the 6th profile, classic and bump.

Funny story I linked @MEC-777 a week ago about this but appreciate the reminder :)

Top tip is get adjusted to the tweak asap before you start messing with car setup lol.

Started using it today. Way better feel now. Using the 6th option as well. But I havent tried the others
