Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

New one is easily half a foot taller, if not more, than the previous model.

So long, so wide, no bed space or cabin space! How do they manage that?!

I actually don't mind the height... if it keeps people from putting lift kits on them and turning them into mall crawlers.

No it doesn't.

The height for me is only a problem if I need to use the bed, it's a bit too high.

Camping is super popular in Europe too.

Been doing it all my life.

But for so reason we don't feel the need to have a massive camper with room for your family,  all the annoying cousins,  creepy uncles and unwanted visitors.

Not the same kind of camping as with a tent, can't think of the word off the top of my head though.

Ok update:

drove on the JPN ecu to work this morning. OBD2 /kinda/ works

i can see mostly everything but one odd thing is the fuel trims are VERY negative. Like -15-25% lol

the car seems fine though. Maybe just an odd reading?

Tried reading codes and there's only one code for a monitoring error I think is what it said and also it basically said all the readiness monitors were "incompatible"

Soooo yeah it kinda works I don't know lol

Sounds like something you shouldn't concern yourself with, or try to do anything to.

Because if you do, it'll crap out or something.

It works because "magic" kind of situation.

Haha exactly what I'm thinking. The fuel system is fine just let it do it's thing. It's obviously correcting well enough for everything to be "normal"

There's no pinging or anything odd. And it pulls really nicely

A bit sucky if OBD2 readings aren't correct.

But hey, it beats a dead engine.

I don't know either. Haven't messed with JDM vehicles, or obd scanners for that matter.

I just have a really expensive vag-com cable and that's it.

On another note, I'm gonna change my long overdue oil and filter tomorrow.

So there's still a chance it'll blow up on the way to the store :P

Forgot which year but it might be the same as yours which is a awesome color in my opinion.

Just thought of something

If you do end up getting a '13 or '14 (or even if you get a '15+) I recommend replacing the rear motor mount. It's really easy and while it doesn't eliminate wheel hop or torque steer, it helps (especially the 13's and 14's, they changed it in 15 and according to others, performance improved)

I'm looking into places that could maybe do a Limited slip diff swap which should all but eliminate both issues.

Its been so long since I've seen a stock height f350 that I don't know if its actually taller or not. I thought the grandpa ladders were dumb AF, but seeing the height of the newer trucks in person its totally needed. The bumper steps on the silverado and colorado are pretty useless honestly.... its still too high to be useful.

can confirm, newer colorados are cramped.

newer tacomas are quite comfortable and roomy surprisingly. so i wouldn't take a colorado if i had a more comfortable option.

This was suggested by youtube as something I might like. It's $800 and there's at least a six week lead time because the guy makes them himself, but I like the idea as long as youre not doing wheel or suspension work

A friend of mine has something like this:

About double the price, but you park over it all the time and you can do suspension work. The downside is that it's hard to get a creeper under the car with all the bracing and stuff on it.

@vetali

thats pretty rich, almost pegged out. create a lean condition by unplugging a vacuum line and see if your fuel trims respond. If not, you are looking at a sensor issue. If they do, then there is likely an incompatibility somewhere. Likely in the exhaust, because they're different. Also could could be a difference in MAF or air intake designs.

Is the code p1000?

Oh I forgot, check the datastream to make sure no temp sensors are reading something abnormal (normally an unplugged or open sensor will read -40 degrees Fahrenheit). That will cause a rich issue.
