Intel Haswell Refresh Lineup For Q2 2014 Unveiled

Intel Haswell Refresh Lineup For Q2 2014 Unveiled In total, Intel is planning to launch seven new Haswell refresh processor variants which include the Core i7-4790, Core i7-4690, Core i5-4590, Core i5-4460, two low TDP variants with the ‘T’ suffix and a single low-voltage CPU with the ‘S’ suffix. The new Haswell refresh processors from Intel would be compatible with the LGA 1150 socket and both 8-Series and 9-Series chipsets. Intel’s 9-Series chipset will be able to support Intel’s Broadwell processor generation which would be the first chip to be based on the 14nm architecture for consumers.

The Intel Core i7-4790 would be replacing the Core i7-4770 and bring a 100 MHz clock speed bump bringing the final clock frequency to 3.6 GHz base and 4.0 GHz turbo. The Core i5-4690 would replace the Core i5-4670 with clock speed adjustments of 3.50 GHz base and 3.90 GHz turbo while the other two processors which include the Core i5-4590 and Core i5-4460 would be replacing Core i5-4570 and Core i5-4440 respectively with clock speeds rated at 3.3/3.7 GHz and 3.2/3.4 GHz.

The prices would remain the same as current processors since these chips would basically be replacing the current models at their respective MSRPs. As for the unlocked K-series chips, Intel is expected to launch K-Series Haswell Refresh chip in Q3 2014 prior to the launch of their Broadwell K-Series chips and their flagship Haswell-E HEDT platform by the end of 2014.

No "k" and no cares given.

but really if i was building a computer for someone like my dad the low power parts would be enticing due to the fact that i could just make a really quiet system that would do everything he wanted it to do.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

This is what happens when AMD does nothing to compete with Intel.

if overclocking is improved this could be beast but sadly i don't think intel will do anything to benefit anyone in the enthusiast community without having their arm twisted now.

Soooo, once again intel is doing nothing... great, i ordered a 4770k, basically any intel k chip for the last will give you the same performance, so the only thing you could care really is PCI-e gen 3, more USB, and more SATA 3, oh well, at least we can look forward to the fact that everything we have now is still going to be good and relevant next 3 years at least...

No K series? No one cares. Only the people who don't want to overclock would care. And that amount of people who build their own PCs is slim.

I'ld actually care if they decided to solder on IHS's again. Until then a very big MEH is in order

Really your going to make that big of a deal. So what it causes you temperatures to be 3 degrees higher. Oh yea and that stupid delidding bullshit that people do to drop a degree and loose warranty on a 200-400 dollar CPU.

It's "lose"(I've seen this mistake a million times and it drives mad) and if they mature the process the temperatures won't be a lot higher than if they soldered the IHS but, like we've seen, early processors get a huuuge temperature drop from delidding and as time goes on it drops.

aaaaaaand high prices, no solder and AMD dropped support on AM platrofm. great -_-

broadwell will have 1% increase in speed, only low power consumption -_-

Ivy is the last processor that anyone would upgrade to

Actually I've got about a half dozen friends who've built their own PCs and out of all of them I'm the only one that's done any overclocking at all. Most people have no interest in tweaking their computers. That's why Intel doesn't care about the few people who do.

Fortunately, there are lots of people upgrading from pre-LGA 1155 who won't care as much about Ivy Bridge. Why upgrade to a socket with lower IPC, fewer SATA III ports, a worse memory controller, and higher power consumption than 1150?

Is this an actual refresh or have they just increased the clock speed a little and included a '90' to go with the '70'?

  • 1 month later...

I think its somewhat interesting. Not because of the new haswell cpu's, but because the new chipsets Z97/H97 will be released at the same time.

And the first new boards should come to market in may (according to some sites at least).. Some even say that in june (following Computex) Intel will release several new K-processors..

Yarrrr, ye be warned lily-livered scallywags
