My thoughts? Pretty good. It’s not without its faults but it’s a good phone.

Would I buy one? No, not because it’s expensive, but because being the biggest iPhone redesign in years, it’s bound to have early teething pains, as usual for the tech industry.

I’d wait for next year, where they’ll refine it and polish some of the rough edges. Heck, it might even be cheaper.

I think it's the best phone of 2017, but do I think its worth the price tag? No.

As far as performance goes Android OEMs need to catch up to Apple.

Also making their own screens would be dumb if Samsung does them better than anyone else already.

The roll out has been shockingly free of major bugs or "-gates" which I didn't expect, and half the reason I went for a 8 plus. Granted, my 8 plus has some serious bugs. If it had the promotion screen I would've seriously considered it.

It's my favourite iPhone out of all of them, not particularly for any features in-particular. In fact, I think it's kind of ugly, expensive and lacking features, but the fact that Apple has actually changed things significantly makes me like it more than the others. Up until now, most iPhones have just been spec improvements and slight appearance changes but the iPhone X is quite a big leap compared to those.

I wouldn't ever buy one, but for once I can actually understand why people would wait in line to drop $1000 on an iPhone.

I'm glad apple is finally moving on and updateing there design. The X is nothing that I would expect by from apple. The X's display good and looks great but it is made by Samsung so in a few months the S9 should out praform it. It's still missing features eg the headphone jack and Fing print sensor. Most of the people I know think it looks ugly.

What I think about the IPhone X is alright. The specs are nice and the display is nice too. (Though its samsungs oled screen but anyways.)

Performance wise, its not bad there either. One thing I wish about apple and there phones, is to run emulators and other types of things.

Exuse my improper english im tired. Really tired.

I quite like it, planning to get one when the next batch arrives to my country. As much as I believe in Apple's judgement, when coming out with controversial changes, such as Face ID, I was still a little skeptical this time and it turned out pretty good in the end.

What I would like to see in the future is them getting rid of the protruded camera, allowing quick charge for wireless charging and most of all offering reasonable capacity options. (I imagine 128 gigs would be the optimal capacity for most people, yet Apple went with the "fuck you" move again and only offers 64/256 this time).

Also, I am still pissed at Apple for removing the audio jack on iPhones. Why? :'(

Spec wise, welcome to the modern world. It took Apple how long to get a resolution comparable to their Android competition? Shame it takes forever to charge up to full unless you buy a quick charger extra..the thing even budget Android devices come with.

Personally, the X feels like a waste of the A11 chip. Or the 8, depending on perspective. Apple bungled up their lineup with the 8 and X coming at the same time. Makes as much sense as Verizon killing their unlimited plan for 2 unlimited plans that only confuse consumers.

The 8 should have been the X instead of the generic usual incremental upgrade pattern. But since it's Apple, they'll be forgiven for all blunders. The backorder for the X's are proof of that.

PS it's pretty ugly

I handled one yesterday. Its nice if you want a smaller sized phone with a narrow display. I prefer a larger wider 8 plus size display.

I dont care for the redesign though. A Glass back on a phone is just dumb to me. The notch is ugly and intrusive, and oled isnt worth the extra money. Also not a fan of face id.

Id just prefer a faster 7 plus with smaller top and bottom bezels and a slightly wider display, but i understand apple had to change things for the sake of change. At least they didnt copy samsungs stupid curved edges.

I haven't had an opportunity to check one out, but by the sounds of it, is that it's a good phone.

Would I buy one? Well had I not purchased my S8+ back in August, maybe if I had the funds for that. But personally if I were to go back to Apple, I would probably just go for the 8 or 8 Plus.

If they added back the audio jack, fingerprint sensor and microsd card, I would look at Apple in a different light. But until then, the iPhones are nothing more than super locked down phones for people who are looking for a status symbol.

Why is losing the fingerprint sensor such a big deal?  I can understand the headphone jack and microSD gripes (though they don't matter to most people), but by most accounts Face ID works as well or better without compromising security.

Also, if those are what it takes to make a "super locked down" status symbol phone, does that mean you think the Pixel 2 line is the same?  It has the fingerprint reader, but that's it.

Well, I heard reports of people breaking their new Iphone X's and came to see if there was mention of it here in the forum.... who wants a phone covered in easily shattered glass? I mean I have a galaxy s7, it's covered in glass, it's just not easily shattered

Manufacturers who also ditch the audio jack are just bandwagoning, thinking that Apple's success is due to their 'brave design choices' when in fact the people who buy iPhones are more interested in defending Apple's decisions after the fact. Its more than just hardware features that make the iPhones super locked down. With Android you get to play whatever media you load to the phone, get to customize the interface or outright flash a custom rom. To me the Pixel 2 ditching the audio jack is heresy, so don't assume my dislike for iPhones is because I think every Android phone is superior.

Whether or not they're bandwagoning depends on their exact engineering requirements, but I know what you mean.

And I'm definitely aware of Android's greater software flexibility.  My question is, what would an iPhone X with a headphone jack, fingerprint sensor and microSD do to change your mind, really?  If your real issue is with iOS, the situation remains the same.  It feels like these arguments aren't really about hardware preferences so much as just wishing Apple would make an iPhone running Android.

What I would like is for them to make a phone that isn't on rails. Giving us the phone jack, fingerprint sensor and microsd slot would be a great start. Let the customer decide if they want to use bluetooth or the audio jack. Let the customer decide if they want to use faceid or touchid. Let the customer add storage capacity as they need.

I will only value a product that values my opinion. I will only choose a product that gives me a choice. Apple refusing to give it to us is the reason why I don't go for their phones. I'd pay the high price they ask for but only if they give me what I want. Am I being unreasonable?

Well, Apple technically does give you a choice in one area: there's the iPhone 8/8 Plus with the fingerprint reader.  Same performance (and similar cameras on the 8 Plus), just no fancy screen or face-mapping tech.  Your choice is set in stone, of course, but it's notable that Apple is actually accommodating people who prefer one or the other.

And you do technically have the choice between wired headphones and Bluetooth.  There's an adapter in the box; it works fine if you leave it attached to your favorite headset.  Is it less convenient?  Definitely, but it's not as if Apple took away the choice of 3.5mm wired headphones -- it just made that choice more cumbersome.

You're not being completely unreasonable, it's just a question of whether or not Apple really needs to cater to your desires to make a good phone and sell every unit it can make.  And so far, it doesn't exactly need to rush.
