Logitech announces G603 LightSpeed Wireless Mouse

AlTech

Logitech has announced the new G603 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse.

This new mouse allegedly features a 12000 DPI sensor with 1ms polling rate and 500 hours of battery life.

logitech_g603_678_678x452.jpg

Not a bad looking mouse.

I'm highly skeptical about that 500 hour battery life they're claiming. My G700S barely a few days hours on a charge.

Logitech has introduced its new gaming mouse that weds high mousing precision, a long battery life, and low input lag with a relatively affordable price. The new G603 Lightspeed wireless mouse uses the company’s latest proprietary sensor with enhanced power efficiency, as well as its new interconnection technology.

The market of gaming peripherals is expanding. New suppliers enter the scene every year with rather promising products. and established players use more and more sophisticated technologies for their halo products to differentiate themselves from others. Because of this, the complexity of gaming mice has increased rather substantially over the last 10 years, and this evidently affected their costs and prices.

One of the key selling features of the Logitech G603 is its Lightspeed wireless interconnection technology that promises to cut the input lag by optimizing internal architecture of keyboards/mice, decreasing polling rate of wireless receivers to 1 ms, increasing signal strength, applying a proprietary frequency hopping mechanism that uses the strongest interference-free channel and optimizing software. In a bid to preserve energy, Logitech’s software allows to reduce polling rate of wireless transmitter and receiver to 8 ms when working with non-gaming application

So yeah, a cool and potentially innovative mouse with an MSRP of $69.99 . Nice but also expensive. This is a little worrying for me because of how close it is to the pricing of the G7xx series of mice from Logitech.

If this is as good as Logitech claims then that's great that we're seeing more innovation in the gaming peripherals industry.

Maybe it is, but why do I need something that sits on my desk 24/7 to be wireless? It's 2ft away from a power source for it's entire life.

Non gaming mice typically last between 30 days and 1 year depending on model. (Newer mice fall mostly into the latter part)

I like the look.  I have a thing about mice having as few seams as possible and being totally smooth / texture-less.  The less places for gunk to build up the better.

I'm intrigued.

It looks a little too good to be true.  I think I'll stick with my G502.

If you're looking for an upgrade path, I wouldn't recommend this mouse.

This is probably mainly targeted at older G6xx users.

WTH? Why don't they just make a Wireless G502? It's been 3 years since the G502 release and they've been making these top notch wireless mouse since 2016. At this rate, I'm just gonna buy the Roccat Leadr on Black Friday.

I love mine.

I don't game on them...so.

It's just like I love my g600. Great for photoshop. And since I don't use it for its intended purpose, the double click issue is a non issue for me, nor is the laser XD. (Also the shape is cancer for the way I grip while gaming)

I love wireless mice in the same way I love my wired g600- for general use.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Because it's an older model. Same how you don't have G402 wireless but you have its successor, the G403. Maybe if the community made more noise they would make it. But then again, seeing how heavy G502 is in the world of mice, a wireless version would weight the same as a planet.

You can't use G402 as a comparison to a G502 because of the latter's demand compared to the former. In fact, I would even tread to guess that the reason they revamped the G402 was precisely because of the G502 as the latter was simply the better version, so they had to scrap the inferior one since there wasn't any point on having it.

And about the weight, the g900 has a 15g battery, in what world would that make a difference for you to exaggerate it as a planet?

G403 is not a revamped G402, the mice are not even close in any way. Any.

Except the G900 weighs 107g while an empty G502 weighs 121g. Add the battery, that's 136-137g. For comparison, Naga Epic Chroma weighs 138g. A very heavy mouse, which in design has lower utility than G502. As it is, the weight has been a deciding factor for few people even here than went with different mice instead of G502.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

I can stand wired keyboards as I don't move them much, but I despise wired mouses. The cable annoys me greatly.

I too used a wired mouse ... until this got ahold of its cord. :o

I also just yesterday bought an MK270 at Walmart, so I can have a 2nd keyboard, this time wireless.  The keyboard on my dad's laptop is acting up (the "L" key isn't working, for example), so he's currently using my K200.

She's also chewed the cord on that, but didn't sever the wires, although they are exposed.  I hope she doesn't chew my Corsair AX760's AC cable :o (Fortunately she hasn't tried, afaik.)

I would have maybe liked the G613, but my budget wasn't that high, and I couldn't pick it up in-store yesterday.
