More people than you might think use Bing

porina

Admittedly I use Bing but that is because I have found that Bing has been more consistent with search results than Google for me.

I use Chrome at work and Bing at home and over the last 2 years I have switched favor to Bing over Chrome. The interface more to my liking as well.

Yes Bing still lacks in a select few areas but head to head Bing gets my vote at this point in the game.

You don't need to insult the intelligence of people who use a competitor to Google.

DuckDuckGo uses Bing.

Siri uses Bing.

Cortana uses Bing.

Yahoo uses Bing.

Spotlight Search in Mac probably uses Bing.

Windows Search uses Bing.

Competition is good for this industry. I would argue that we don't have enough competition.

Bing is perfectly fine search engine.  It may not produce entirely the same results as Google but that's because not as many people use Bing and thus Bing takes longer to get better as search engines get better with every single search.

And by the way, Google always screws up my language. I use English and not Mandarin or Cantonese. Also, Google actually spies on you more than Bing does as you'll see by Privacy Badger in the screenshots.

Spoiler

Ok, so Google was slightly better.

Well, I exclusively use bing and edge... and TBH it's not bad. results are generally the same, but bing gives me money to search, and so does edge.
plus, I find edge to be faster, with a cleaner UI, and it doesn't take as much RAM.

on my phone, I use google, since it's integrated with android much better.

BTW: did you know that siri looks stuff up with bing?

My only issue with Edge, other than falling behind in some Web Standards and the UI being janky is the amount of vulnerabilities and bugs it has.

Bing is actually pretty good imho. It forces people to be very specific for what they want which helps :). Also, Google sometimes provides me with results I didn't like.

Unfortunately most people don't see it that way. They think that we need a monopolistic environment where Google Overlords rule our lives.

duckduckgo is an aggregate search that can get results from bing, but not exclusively.

OSX yosemite spotlight and IOS 8 both use bing, however google remains the default search engine in safari.

Yahoo is powered by bing, however there is a global 10% variance in search results between the two.

and of course cortana and windows search uses bing.

your not wrong, just thought i'd add some specifics. :)

Things changed in recent years. Personally, Bing finds exactly what I want, within the first 3 entries on the first page, more than 90% of the timd. Google might find it 75% of the time, and less than 50% of the time is it on the first page.

I'll take Bing over Google any day.

Microsoft's numbers are claiming a 9% global market share.

Your figure matches better with what independent sources say. According to Statcounter, Google has 92.02% of global market share, Bing has 2.55%, Yahoo has 2.23%, and Baidu has 1.44%.

Microsoft also claims a 33% market share in the US. Statcounter has them at 6.5%.

Bing was counting searches. That could be very different than an estimated number of users, if Bing users for whatever reason do a relatively bigger number than with Google.

Do google and/or MS make money off their respective browsers? If so, how?

I know search engines do but is that money much more than google gets for google ads?

Also how much part of MS's revenue does bing comprise of?

I guess mostly people use google more than bing because bing was bad at a time and although now it is competent it has nothing more to offer than google and so naturally people use google cause they are comfortable with it.

Also bing images is really bad of you're looking for specific things.
