More people than you might think use Bing

“Bing is bigger than you think,” Microsoft boasts, with quarter of UK searches

It turns out that "But nobody uses Bing!" isn't actually true.

Microsoft Bing is going on an offensive, with their stats showing their share of searches may be more than you think, at 33% in USA, and 23% in UK. And older tweet gives slightly different numbers, but for more regions. Personally I wonder how much of this is down to Bing being offered when installing some MS software, and it being the default in Windows unless changed. The news article links Bing's comments to gaining advertiser attention, but could it influence users also? I had written off Bing and stuck with Google. Is it worth giving Bing another go?

Yeah well that's what happens when people who don't care just use Edge and the default search engine known as Bing when they get a new PC or are forced into upgrading...

Funny thing is that whenever I search via the omnibar (on Edge/Bing that is) for browsers or other software installs on a brand new Windows install it never finds the right results - at least not in the top results. So I usually have to go to google.com to do my search instead and it'll immediately give me the best result. So to lessen my frustration I often have to go to Google, download Chrome and then download the rest because I just can't deal with Bing. If it wasn't so shitty, it could possibly help adoption of both it and Edge.

So 25% of people never find what they are looking for? Thats too bad.

Things changed in recent years. Personally, Bing finds exactly what I want, within the first 3 entries on the first page, more than 90% of the timd. Google might find it 75% of the time, and less than 50% of the time is it on the first page.

I'll take Bing over Google any day.

I hate how people are still way too negative about Bing, I used a Windows Phone for the last year (now back to Android as primary phone) and I got so used to Bing that I just set it as the default everywhere. No joke, it works just fine as a search engine. I especially like the more personal feel that Bing has, like with the daily image for example on its homepage. Google.com always looks like the same old thing.

This just falls in the category of people that just don't know that they're doing and think Edge is The Internet.

Usually old people, but that doesn't mean younger people can't do the same thing.

Well, I exclusively use bing and edge... and TBH it's not bad. results are generally the same, but bing gives me money to search, and so does edge.
plus, I find edge to be faster, with a cleaner UI, and it doesn't take as much RAM.

on my phone, I use google, since it's integrated with android much better.

BTW: did you know that siri looks stuff up with bing?

I wish MS would make Android and Mac counterparts of Edge. They may not be my primary on operating systems not Windows 10, but I'd like the option.

Though I find that Edge will take up as much RAM as Firefox after an hour of YouTube viewing.

If any one uses bing at all it is because it is the default search engine on Edge and a ton of people are clueless on how to change it.

Hi

WHAT ????? Why do people hate finding things ??

I mean you can find what you need faster by using Google. I think it's used by those who don't know how to change their default browser and search engine. Going full Google (YT , keep , chrome , android , translate , gmail , calendar , photos , maps ... ) is easier .

And to be clear , I don't hate MS or their services, in fact i like them , I use office , one note , windows , cortana(on pc) , and their email service but at the end , most of the times , Google do it better
