jobs are only a waste of time if it costs you more to be at the job than you earn from the job.

I agree with you to some extent. But, I also would like to bring into the discussion the quality of life angle...

I worked for years and years in a job that I wasn't happy with, and I was earning very decent money. Money doesn't equal happiness obviously, so everyone has to make a decision (if they can), whether to also try and find a job that they enjoy and make money, or stick with a job they dislike for more money maybe... I probably didn't explain that well, I have that problem, so I'll try to explain my own situation. I now work for myself, building/repairing PCs etc... I am not a master at it, but do have quite a bit of experience - as I am now my own boss, I have at least some choice as to how hard to work VS quality of life, plus I have to take my medical problems into consideration as I could no longer work 9-5 type jobs anyway. Yes I earn a lot less money, but the job I was doing I would np longer be able to do anwyay, so that kind of made the decision for me,. But also I now enjoy myself every day and actually look forward to the days. I have to obviously have enough work to live on, but as long as that is taken care of I am happy. I get to spend more time with my family, take the dog out whenever I can and go to the beach etc. It's not an idyllic life, but it's close enough for me :D

TL:DR - money doesn't equal happiness.

Honestly I'm in the same boat. I like fiddling with my computer hardware, and cleaning/taking apart and organizing things. But I've lost all interest in gaming and I find myself enjoying forums and youtube less and less. Tech simply isn't as appealing, more like a pointless time waster. I should really get a hobby...

Advocate for used/older hardware. Also one of the resident petrol heads.

I feel like I have to little time to play games and do other stuff I want...

As of recently i just cannot be bothered or enjoy playing games anymore, i used to play all the time. i feel as if it has to do with the fact that i spend all my time using computers (job and college) and i just sick of it? is this normil

Honestly I haven't really gotten in to any games as of late. Nothing catches my fancy.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

martial arts or any sports - health and socialising.

possum/pest hunting - its good for the environment & economy.

fishing - food.

video games are great if you join a lan gaming club but if youre just sitting at home, thats when it gets boring

I feel you, I'm in the same boat. I have enough time to game, I just don't do it much these days. And when I do it's mainly old console emulators. Modern games just don't interest me.. Shadow of Mordor was the last modern game that I really enjoyed. I'm just not the "gamer" I thought I was. I still love computers though. :)

Don't know: I've been using a computer for over 20 years (closer to 30) and regularly like a full day of work then evening use at home for at least 10 years now. I do notice I play less frequently than before but I still game on it, unless I'm on the move I actually can't get used to just using a cellphone like most people I always go back to my desktop.

I feel like it's ok to start using your PC less to game or thinker on your downtime, not due lack of time just less interest overall but there's always something to do even if it just playing music or podcasts in the background while you read for example.

videogames may (depending on the type of game) do the following:

- improve reflexes

- promote teamwork

- inrease logic skill

- teach vareous topic otherwise only really found in the classroom (historically themed games being the easy one to list here)

- online gaming made it possible to socialize with people you would never meet in real life. actual group of gamers i used to hang out with: me (nerd), a trainee chef,  an electrician, a woodworker, a nurse in a home for people with demention, and someone that goth she took regular breaks to shit bats.

also not to mention that online gaming has allowed people to "experience" how different countries around the world see things, in a way that school doesnt teach, or may purposely teach a biased image of. (i had a russian manager for 3 months, dude entirely swayed my image of how i see the russian population.)

besides, if PC gaming wasnt a thing, would you and i be talking right at this very moment? ;)

I got tired of videogaming right around the time I went to college and discovered I could get class credit and a major resume boost by building racecars. Then that developed into a major racing hobby, which makes a heroin addiction look like a vague craving for something salty. Grad school further limited the amount of time I felt I could spend gaming, and now after working post-grad....I would rather do many other things.

I don't game much anymore, maybe a couple hours a month. Used to be a huge gamer growing up but I don't miss it to be honest. It's fun to tinker around with the computer and play games from time to time but it's not close to my main focus anymore.

It's cruel in a way-- when you're young and have no money to buy the shiny newest graphics card and CPU, you have all the time in the world to game. When you're older, employed, and can impulse buy a Titan, you couldn't care less.

My dude, it is time for you to torrent games that you are interested in, and later on investing the money into them if you enjoy them that much, other than hard platformed based games on blizzard

Agree, preferences change over time.

Myself, almost done with my first degree this term.  No longer game near the levels I use to, but I found more enjoyable hobbies instead.

Then again, I never been a huge gamer on PC.
