Leaked info of AMD Vega, and HDR, and physics engine, and ambient occlusion and..

Honestly I think I'm going to wait for the AMD Radeon RX Vega Rage X2 Fury X.

No no the Square Enix games will match but not surpass the 1080 ti which I'm sure AMD enthusiasts will consider a moral victory anyways.

Arsenal is a football club based in London, UK. They compete for the English Premiere League. Just a football fan. And this is their position in the league past years. It's a popular meme/troll on social networks if you follow football

sorry, nop ... I don't follow football; unless it's the World Cup ^_^

Nice April Fools.

But somehow this will leak into the real world getting the hype train to light speed which will then crash when AMD's official announcement show lower performance than this "leak" causing all sorts of horror.

Ye ole' train

Radeon RX Vega Rage X Fury, a bit of a mouthful xD
This is definitely april fools joke because it says "up to 16GB of RAM" but only 8GB is shown on the cards. And that NDA date

Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

About that "cache HBM" instead of simple VRAM :
Are they serious ?!
VRAM is, and always was, a cache-type memory for GPU.
It was off-die (like early Pentium 3's), true, but it held data needed only by GPU and was on all cards produced since "GPU" name was used (pretty sure dedicated RAM is older than "GPU" name btw).

So what it has "cache like bandwidth" ?
My GTX 780 Ti VRAM probably has more bandwidth than Core i7 L3 cache. Does it make it less "cache like bandwidth" worthy ?

"HBM cache"...
Calling "a wheel" something else doesn't make it do something else on a car.

Because of the way they've designed the HBCC in Vega the on chip memory now acts like a L4 cache in a CPU would work. They've already shown deoms of it being much more efficient than standard memory management.

It's funny because that meaningless "2x faster" graph seems like something that AMD would actually show in a presentation.

Yeah, Nvidia is known not to make these claims either. Remember how the 1070 and 1080 are totally 2x better then a 980 TI?

I don't understand what Arsenal means, so I approximated

was I wrong?!

Arsenal would translate to Military Stockpile/depot.

Example: The US's arsenal would allow them to take on China in a lengthy war until ammunition plants can increase their production to keep up.

Well, duh.
It must work better since they get to HBM 2.0 :D

My problem is with suddenly calling it "cache", when VRAM was simply off-die cache from the begining. Pentium 3's off-die cache was still called cache.

Look at this (memory levels Vega vs. other GPU) :
Vega GPU => On-Die cache => HBM/"NVRAM"/System memory/Network (HBCC is just a controler, NOT a memory pool).
Other GPU => On-Die cache => VRAM => System memory.
For comparison :
CPU (registers) => Cache L1 => L2 => L3 => L4 => System memory

So Vega can use one pool of memory for all physical memory available.
It still has to obey what bandwidth is available to each type of memory.
If HBM 2.0 is out of memory it should go to next fastest memory available : System memory (just like any other GPU would).
BTW, "NVRAM" is non-volatile RAM.

What makes HBM 2.0 a "Cache" and not simple VRAM ?

Wow you guys, I'm sure amd would make something a alot less convincing if this was an April fools joke. I know you like to tease the "AMD fanboys" but buzz off. NVIDIA / Intel fanboys are so annoying. Nothing but negativity from them and are quick to shoot any hope down. Almost can't wait till I can get rid of my 1070. Sure AMD maybe isn't the best (arguable) but I think they are doing everything right to deserve more profits and less "quick shots". Tired of the Intel and NVIDIA elitist attitudes.

It'd actually be great if they called it the Rage lineup. It'd also be great if they pulled an official announcement on April Fool's :P Though we have seen that card design somewhere before... However, I see no nano card.
