I don't believe the 35% claim. Maybe 20% or less if a 980ti has a nice OC. I think we should all do the responsible thing and wait for AMD's response. 16Gbs of HBM2 sounds better than GDDR5X at 11Gbs

I do, but it's like the silicon lottery, because it differs from monitor to monitor. 2 things are still problematic in that regard: Even if you OC say the LG 34UC88P (which is a great monitor at a great price), you still won't reach an interval where LFC kicks in. I've got to hand it to nVIDIA. this event looked much more exciting than that IMO terrible AMD stream earlier in the day. Might go with nVIDIA on the next gen of GPUs. I like my RX 460, but the only reason I didn't get the GTX 1050ti was because it took them longer to put it for sale and I needed a cheap upgrade for my HD8350 badly.

 

Whenever I decide to upgrade GPU in a generation or two I likely won't be in such a rush unless my RX 460 bursts into flames, but nah it's actually a pretty cool and quiet card from my experience so far.

@SamStrecker AMD had their spot under the light for announcing their possible specs but they preferred to not say anything (which is both good for them - NVidia won't know what AMD are up to, and bad - customers won't know what to expect either).

 

I was waiting on at least a word about Vega's architecture and possible release window (we all know that the end of Q2 2017 right now is in about 3 or 4 months?)

 

The thing with the 1080 Ti was that everyone expected more cut down version of GP102 and higher price - and they hit us like a truck on both sides.

 

Right now the thing is that we don't have enough information about Vega to justify the waiting while we can get a really fast card (one of the 2 fastest right now) much sooner and the price is not so bad for everyone that were early adopters of 1080 (also now is the best time to sell the 1080s because in a week from now you won't be able to get as much money for them as it is right now).

 

P.S. I'm really sad that the high-end competition is Nvidia vs Nvidia vs Nvidia (gosh) vs Fury X? God damn AMD hasn't release a high-end GPU in a milenium...

I mean I wasn't expecting VEGA to launch, but I was hoping to see some specs and benchmarks, they did have it running since at least CES if I remember,

 

but instead we got some sales pitch for VR and multi-GPU (things that mean nothing to me personally) and some partner announcements.

MWill be interesting to see how the price drop will trickle down as the FE cards were a $100 premium anyways. So will it affect the aib cards at all or just the FE cards, bringing the FE and aib cards to par with each other. 

 

Seems to me like AMD should have either shifted there event schedule to drop Vega right after the 1080ti unveil or maybe right before the 1080ti launch date of the 10th. Nvidia have played there hand, and if Vega is what we all hope and hear it would do to nvidia what ryzen looks to do to Intel.

Yes i tested for it. First it was skiping at anything  higher than 75hz but then i changed the port where my monitor was plug in and it stopped. 

After buying this monitor i am not going to 60hz again now i can only go up. As the lack of frequency is more noticeable than tearing. You are right its always a lottery but decreasing the min hz is easier than increasing the max hz.

The price change can't be changed in a flash as the retailers had paid about 440$ per 1080.

In about a week when NVidia push the new batch of GPUs and decrease the price everywhere.

 

It just takes a little time for the retailers to lower the price after the manufacturers have done it.

Indeed. Personally, I would prefer a 100hz monitor. Not necessarily for gaming, as I prefer high quality graphics over high fps, but rather the more fluid movement in windows desktop and browsing. Especially when scrolling, you'll notice the difference. Why I thought the CF791 would be amazing. But then it was 8 bit, which I can live with. And a wonky VESA mount, which I can live with too. But flicker on the freesync. ARG! The new Asus suffers from the same as well, although not quite as bad it seems.
